Is a knife, of course, we all no this :p

but one of the most useful things anyone has ever given me is this:

It’s a small notebook gifted to me along with some other things (including paracord, another very useful thing), anyway I was at a kids birthday party last night with my kids and once again my little 'un (she's turning two next month) was acting fussy. It was getting close to her bed time and the other kids were older and so on. Anyway without thinking of it I asked her if she wanted my pen to play with (to tempt her away from one of the garden ornaments she wasn't to play with ) and pulled this little note book out my pocket.

I always try to carry a pen and paper but it wasn't until Sean’s post a while back that I started to think about the pen I carry. I always liked carrying pens from places I'd been that given them a way (hotels, bars restaurants etc) and still do form time to time but I also picked up a fine point zebra on Sean’s recommendation and space pen on Johns. Both either travel in my pocket or in my bag most of the time now along with a first aid kit, a diaper and whips, the JK TK etc etc, and this notepad.

This notepad (like all note pads) has come in very handy for jotting down ideas, phone numbers, as well as a host of other stuff I'd otherwise end up jotting on my hand. however what makes it one of the most useful things I've ever had is that my little girl likes to "draw" (she's also drawn a rather large mural across one of the living room walls in crayon when I was out the room for a few minutes, luckily it's one we want to paint anyway :D.)

This pad has been the only way I've kept her entertain (not toys or dolls or anything else we have around) in almost every situation of my daily life from eating out to riding in the car t birthday parties.
Here’s a sample of the wonders I carry with me:

I doubt I'll ever let it go even when it's finally filed up so much even Iris won't be able to draw in it anymore.

Anyway, just a quick share and a big thanks to Sean, he's made life 100 times easier any number of times because of this little pad :)
I’ve got a water heater to look into, a shop-vac to take back, things to dry, things to buy, things to post a and things to do for work and I bet you it’s going to come in handy today as well,

here's some good ole JK content for fun:

I've got to go now because the little girl is pulling on my arm, something must be afoot!

Thanks Sean

Looks like it`s a handy thing to have around! I always carried a baggie of Cheerios when my daughter was little.

Thanks for sharing, a helpful group of guys hang out here.

Isn't it funny sometimes the simplest things kids pick to play with/entertain themselves? Like empty boxes, etc

Whataya mean kids? I still play with empty boxes and things.

Awesome! And here I thought my daughter was the only one!

She knows I always carry a pen around so whenever she gets a free moment, which is often, she always asks to "color preez" (she's not good with L's yet). It's amazing how much quiet time you can buy yourself when you are our and about with a pen and a notebook! (3 minutes is a lot of quiet time for a two year old!) ;)

Thanks for sharing that, Peter.

I always carry my Fisher bullet pen. Can't recall how many times that has come in handy.

That will be a treasure one day. Actually, I suspect it probably already is.

I used to keep an old tin Band-aid box (anyone remember those?) full of clothes pins. It would keep little ones entertained for hours. I actually have it packed away with some other keepsakes. It went through 3 children, no worse for the wear. :)

Glad you like it Peter...it's odd the joy that simple things we use everyday can bring.

I like mine too.... :)
