Has anyone else seen this movie? I think it was a very good movie, definatley one of Clint Eastwoods best.

Loved the movie. Best one I have seen in many years.

It is a very good movie; and, certainly another hit for Clint Eastward. I would rate it an 8 out of 10; -1 for a couple of over-the-top-plot devices/cliches, and -1 for lack of originality. A very similar story (old fart ex-veteran forced to provide some old style discipline by loathsome teenage hoods) had been done more effectively by the movie Red just a few months before Grand Torino came out.

Here is a link to Red:

I would recommend seeing both of these movies. But, if I had to pick one, Red is the better movie; it refuses to go where you would expect and does an excellent job of avoiding all of the usual Hollywood-isms.

I'll have to rent Red, it looks good.

I can't believe they kept Tom Sizemore sober long enough to film a movie! :)

I thought it was a good solid film but not brilliant - probably caused by the high expectations I took to the cinema that day. They weren't quite met.

Saw it, loved it. Really torqued off that it was not nominated for a single Oscar while that dip stick Penn is going to win for his schlock "Milk"

Good movie with outstanding writing.
Very entertaining...

That said, it was thematically awfully close to Unforgiven but in a different time/place setting.

Also, the two lead Hmong actors (brother and sister characters) had some real weak acting moments. Enough to be distracting to me. :o

Definately one of my favorite Eastwood movies, I dont think it is Oscar worthy but still a darn good movie.

Thanks for the tip on Red. I didn't know they made it into a movie. I read the book by Ketchum, great stuff. I'm definitely gonna rent the movie.
