I've been wanting to see this for awhile and was put off a bit by all the negative reviews from the critics. :( I decided to go see it anyways and I found it really good. Not the best movie ever, but it had a twist that made it really interesting. For some reason I could really identify with the main character, who for lack of a better word is an a$$hole. Seriously, but you come to understand why he is the way he is as the movie unfolds. There is a ton of action and the PR guy cracks me up.

Anyway, I'd give it 3.75 stars out of 5.

Also saw the preview for the new Bond movie and it looks great.

I don't understand the premise behind the movie. It looks like "Superman with a dose of teen angst". Please tell me there's more to it than that.

Hancock lost his memory in the early 1900's and feels that no one ever cared for him. He has no memory prior to waking up in a Miami hospital and has no idea why he has these powers. As a defense mechanism he is a jerk to everyone as he feels abandoned because no one stepped up to claim him when he was injured and lying in the hospital. There is a nice twist to help make sense of who and what he is, but enough is left out to make you wonder.

Thanks for the review....most critics are disliking it.

Saw Wall-e. A good movie. Worth the $ to go see. Amazing how little spoken dialog is in the film...but they still communicate so much.

Thanks for the review, Ted:)

I'm still way on the fence about Hancock. My wife was out of town last weekend, so we have yet to go see Wall-E which we have been looking forward to for quite some time. We might catch it over the weekend.

Hancock has been through about 7 writers and 3 directors since its conception. They were even doing pick-up shots as late as MAY:eek: Also, from what I hear, Will Smith decided to do the movie because his son wanted him to play a super hero...that and the multi-million dollar payout;) From what I understand, the movie had to go through 3 cuts just to get the MPAA to give it the coveted PG-13 rating. In all honesty, the movie would probably work wonderfully as a mid-season hard R rated flick. The idea is solid, but from everything I can glean from the review sites, it's a bit muddled and flavor of multiple writers is very evident.

I plan on giving it a watch, but I don't know if I'll see it before it is out of theaters. With Wall-e to catch up on and Hellboy II coming out next weekend followed by The Dark Knight...well, that's almost a month of movie watching right there:D

My second great passion behind all things sharp and pointy is the cinema:o I'm not a film snob nor have I ever been to an arthouse, but i like to follow the conception, production, buzz, and success/failure of the movie business:)

Sounds like a good mindless summer action flick with a bit of angst thrown in to show how sensitive it all is. I'm sure I'd like to see it as a fun summer movie. A bit different. I think it would be a little more interesting if he wasn't a superman power type superhero though. From the clips I saw he was stopping trains and throwing whales. He is a danger to everybody else, but seems pretty invulnerable himself.

i saw it last night. it was ruined by some jerks in the theatre. i don't tolerate that type of stuff and the morons were waiting for me after the movie for sayin somethin. nothin happened.

Good for you. I hate that kind of behavior too. I've been in that situation quite a few times myself. And you're right, nothing ever happens.

Man, I have GOT to see Hellboy II and the Dark Knight.

I saw Hellboy II the other week and was disappointed. In fact, I fell asleep during the last 15 minutes or so! .

There were inconsistencies with the character Abe and the fact that they didn't use David Hyde-Pierce as the voice over for him. It bugged me... they new voice was "almost" sounded like DHP... but wasn't.

The story just didn't flow like Hellboy did. I know, it's a sequel, but everyone came back from the first movie (except the voice of DHP I guess). Must have been different writers.

I REALLY want to see the Dark Knight. But it isn't showing in Sheridan this week .

I went to go see Hancock with some friends after riding all day at Cedar Point. I too was apprehensive because of the mixed (and mostly negative) reviews, but I was surprised that it was pretty good. It offered a somewhat new take on the usual rigmarole of superhero origins, although it replaced it with an equally unlikely one. I would like to have seen more of Hancock using his powers, as the CGI was really quite good, but I feel the movie was already fast-paced,and actually could have used more storytelling.

Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron are an Arrested Development fan's dream come true (apart from the upcoming AD movie). Unfortunately, this also meant I was spotting unintentional references throughout the film.

DHP's voice over was a studio decision on the first Hellboy. I think they wanted someone more famous that "that dude from Ice Pirates and TV's Beauty and the Beast" to get butts in the chairs. I love ya, Ron...but uber famous actor to the kiddies you are not:D That said, DHP did NOT take credit for his work on HB. He found that Doug Jones made the role. Doug Jones WAS Abe. Jones has gone on to voice Abe in two animated HB movies as well as Golden Army.

Honestly, I LOVED GA. I thought it was a great continuation of the HB, Abe, and Liz characters. It was also a little more faithful to the comics (not the story exactly). The plot and subplots were a bit weak, but I don't go into a Hellboy movie expecting great story telling. I just wanna see Red beat up some Pan's Labyrinth rejects:D

HOPEFULLY, I'm catching The Dark Knight when I get off work...fingers crossed

I'm interested in seeing Hancock, HellBoy II and The Dark Knight. Will be seeing the Dark Knight next weekend. The company I work for is renting out a theator next Sunday and I ordered 2 tickets for that showing. The company is even paying for them, I just need to find a ride there. :)

never trust movie critics. they want every movie to be casablanca and it never is.
they pooped on Blade Runner and that movie was the mother of modern scifi
