Does anybody know if (and when) The M398 versions will be available?

No one knows yet but the best way to find out about expected releases is to troll the Spyderco Forum (not this one) where releases are often (but I'm not sure if they're always) announced.

For example, see this announcement of the Magnacut Mule release there by TazKristi who is Sal's forum administrator (not just a "member') there:

A simple search of "M398 Mule" there did not reveal any specific info about this yet but you never know when some relevant info may turn up in one M398 thread or another.

Keep an eye on the threads that turn up in the following search for "M398 Mule." A "release date thread" should pop up in this search as soon as the info becomes available and you'll see it there long before you'll see it here on BF.

I'm not in the market for one but I expect that the demand for the M398 Mule will be similar to what it was for the Magnacut and that getting one on the "release date" will be just as challenging" as it was for the Magnacut and I personally I don't want to go thru THAT experience again.

But, good luck to you in getting one when it is released.
