Several months back our old mailing service which we had been using for about ten years decided to go out of business. Not such a big deal, right?

Wrong. We got a new mailing service at the place where we ship but that was the easy part.

The usps will not forward any mail directed to the old address. They tell me this is the job of the mailing service which is no longer in existence. So, I had to try to contact everybody that ever sends me anything via mail, including all governmental agencies and notify them of the address change. Of course, the VA (like all the others, I suspect) threw my change of address letter in the trash and my meds still went to the old mailing service which isn't there anymore so were returned to the VA. It took a trip to the VA hospital and a personal appearance to get this corrected. That is just one story. There's dozens more just like it but here's the best one of all.

Of course, I notified Pala and Gelbu of the address change. No problem, they said. We'll use the new address. Don't worry about a thing.

Every piece of mail from Nepal including knife shipments have since come here directed to:

3945 Lakeside Drive rather than the correct address of 3495 Lakeside Drive. I have asked repeatedly that they change the mistaken address to the correct one with no success.
Sometimes you just can't win. And it's too early to get started on Heineken.

When I 1st read that I thought, "What the hayull is Bro/Uncle Bill raving about now?"

Then I realized it was *MY* Dyslexia* that was acting up and the address number was indeed *Not* the same!!!LMRRAO:D  :p :D

I hate it when that happens!!!!!!!:D  :p :D

I used to really have a hard time balancing my checkbook or doing any other lists of numbers.
I had to really be careful, still do when I'm really tired.

(And that's why y'all sometimes see words written like this!!!!);)

Bro I was told Ginko Biloba was supposed to help dyslexia, perhaps it's worth a shot? hehehehehehe.......

I agree with Mike too!!!!!!
"It not too early over here. Just tell them you're working on GMT as you pop open that beer."

Besides Beer is made form grain. You're supposed to eat more grain than anything else during the day.
Soooooooo....
If you're drinking beer you're getting the good part of the basic food group!!!!!
Bet ya didn't think about that!!!!!!

The UPS driver called yesterday at 6AM and told me the old lady at 3945 Lakeside was getting tired of him trying to deliver 200 pound parcels to her.

The upside of the fiasco is Gelbu puts my phone number on the parcels and at least he got that much right. So, UPS can call when the old lady sends them away. I don't know what she does with my letters. Probably throws them in the trash like the VA.

Bill:

Put down that bottle of beer!! Get in your car and drive down to the lady's house at the old address and make nice with her. Find out what she wants or needs and buy it for her today on the condition that she notifies you upon receipt of your mail. It sounds to me it would be worth spending some $$$$ to get this mess taken care of.

Looks like postal folks are getting it figured out. Probably wouldn't hurt for you to speak directly with the carrier(s), especially if same person does both addresses. They can pass the word to co-workers that anything addressed to Bill Martino/HI goes to the proper address.

Mike in Seattle wishing he was Mike in England and I would be hoisting one also

Uncle,

You should put that lady on your payrole. As long as she is getting your mail she might as well do something with it.

Uncle Bill, I think Mike in Seattle & N2S have a good idea/thought ...how about giving the little old lady a bottle of Cognac and a Kagas Katne for Christmas? :)

I don't know how many shipments you get in the course of a year, Uncle Bill, but maybe you should print up a few hundred pressure-sensitive labels that you know are correct and send them to BirGhorka.

It has been a while for me, but, I though UPS had the ability to supply pre-printed lables. They might be able to help you.
