Well I received the box from Ben in the mail today, and boy he wasn't joking when he said he did some knife tetris to get everything in there!
There were a lot of really interesting knives in the box, as well as some gadgets. Here is a picture I took of the contents as I received them:
Two of my sons had some traditional knives they'd picked up from their grandpa, so I let them take a look to see if they wanted to trade anything. One of them hemmed and hawed awhile before deciding not to trade. The other deliberated and eventually traded a two-bladed NRA trapper with white (synthetic?) bone scales for the stiletto.
I had as hard a time (harder, probably) choosing what to take and what to leave. I don't have a lot of traditional knives, and most of them are cheapies that I got from my dad. I ended up trading my large sodbuster for the smaller one (I had debated between the large and small when I first bought the large, and I hadn't the chance to put them both in hand.) Then I really liked the slip trapper and the camco that Ben put in himself. I felt bad trading evenly for either of these knives because they were better than anything else I had to put in, so I put in two of what I had to give (a small Kershaw lock back and a small frost lock back) and just took out the trapper.
Here is the after shot:
This was a lot of fun for me, just getting to look at a lot of different knives. The one the boys and I had the most fun looking at was the tiny little stockman (I think that's the right name) that had "the porch" etched on one scale and a couple of porch chairs on the other. I couldn't take it though, because it seemed like it belonged with the box as the patron knife of the giveaway.
Anyhow, I hope I've upheld the spirit of this giveaway, given that I hadn't been a part of any of the previous ones. I enjoyed it so much that I'm eager to send the box along and see what the next winner takes out and puts back.
So here is the official entry round 17, or whatever it may be. Ben offered to ship only to US residents, but I'm open to going international if the winner will help with the shipping, and if that doesn't mess with the original giveaway rules.
I'll let this round run for one week, so I'll randomly choose a winner on Monday, March 12th. If you want in, just say, "I'm in!" or you can do what I did and say, "That sounds like fun!"
Edit:
Here is a list of those who entered in Ben's thread last time (excluding myself, of course). Just let me know if you don't want in this time around:
1) BenHarris
2) Henry Beige
3) JupiterPaladin
4) davek14
5) fishiker
6) TheChunk91
7) afishhunter
