The model 302 single blade called the Solitaire, sized the same as a 301 stockman are available. I know several folks were waiting after the prototypes sold out. I bought one each of the new ones. Because I get them by ordering thru the Buck Collectors Club I usually get the first production runs. Which sometimes have a few blips. Two of these had a scratch or two, one rivet was noticeable tall to the feel and one had a tiny gap at one bolster joint. The Yellow scale was perfect. They are being offered around the web at $26. Mine have 2010 blade date stamps.
Here you can see the bolster gap and scratch on the Chairman series scale.
This is my Buck knife of the year vote. Yellow smooth Valox scale. I will put it up with any $26 knife around. I think this slim good sized
single blade will serve folks well as a EDC. It should open feed sacks, cut hay twine, cardboard boxes, lunch apples and whittle a fire stick with the best of them.
The first run dings will get fixed and I am not worried you will get the same in a knife you get. Buck knows of my issues and has responded positively. The price is right, Buck warranty counts, I am betting these will make great slim styled EDCs. That yellow scale looks like my Granddads knife, was that a old yellow Schrade or Camillus ?. FYI
