Could someone explain the wide disparity in the prices for these new knives?
I am assuming that the higher end ones have the ironwood handles, and the cheaper versions MAY have rosewood handles?
Have just won one on ebay, and it was at the lower end pricing, and may start looking for the others,if they are out there.(have yet to receive it,so I do not know what the handle material may be)
Thanks,
Chingascook

I think that a bit of scouting answered my own question.
The high end ones are a Limited Edition, with Ironwood scales, and the others will be the production run.
So,we can scrub this request!

I'm sure either version is up to the usual Buck standards, especially since it is made in the USA.

My only "complaint" ( ;) ) is that there is not a pocket clip sheath available from Buck -- I guess I will have to spring for a William Henry sheath, as others have.

Does anyone know the proper size WH sheath to buy for the 55?

I cant remember the number for sure, but I think it's the T10 pouch. If the T12 is the larger, then for sure thats the right one. The larger one fits the 501 and LoneWolf city knife and the med one fits 503 and Umfaan.

I have both the 55 and 503. I bought WH clip cases for both but off the top of my head I don't remember which size. I think I specified which case in an earlier thread.

I finally got down to my PO box to pick this item up,(won on ebay a number of weeks back), and have a question regarding the quality of the blade grind.
I am quite surprised about the coarseness of the hollow grind on the blade.
I own MANY,MANY Buck knives, and to my eye,the grind marks on this knife are the most pronounced of any that I own, almost to the point of being considered objectionable.
Any comments from the folks at Buck?
Thanks,
Chingascook.

I don't know if you'll be receiving any new responses through this thread, since all seemed "said and done" about two weeks ago. Have you tried looking at the warranty page at the Buck Knives' website, or tried calling the Buck consumer hotline at (800) 215-2825?

GeoThorn

Chingascook is from "The Last of the Mohicans," right?

Thanks,to J Hubbard.
I will do just that!
As I mentioned,IMHO,these grind marks are too excessive.
I will return it to their new site.
Thanks,
Chingascook

Are they now accepting warranty work at the new facility in Post Falls,Idaho?
I will wait for a reply before sending this knife back.
Thanks,
Chingascook.

To Geothorn, yes the name Chingascook came from the Last Of The Mohicans.
My hunting buddy uses "Hawkeye" for his moniker.

I have mine and I really like it. I'm not so sure of the wood, but I probably have the cheaper version as I only paid 31 bucks for mine. Grinds were clean, edge sharp, and the lock as solid as my 110. Couldn't be more pleased.
Thanks Buck Guys for listenin'!
Matt

Just posting to let J Hubbard know that the knife is on it's way back to the Idaho warrantee center.
I mailed it last Friday morning.
Looking forward to comments, and expected repair/touchup to the blade.
Ching.
