The new Case stag and CV trapper

I just picked this up, it has great fit and finish, a little touch up on the edge and it's a great EDC traditional. The stag looks good (I'm spoiled by GEC/Northfield now...), it's burnt stag, but the front and rear scales do not match in composition or color too well, I think Case can do better. Over all, it's a great knife, maybe I"m just picky now.

Here is one in SS I have been carrying for almost a month now. They actually matched mine up pretty well. I do wish it was CV though, but I am dealing with the SS just fine.

You can't see both sides at the same time anyway. :D

I really like the logo etched into the stag. Very attractive and tastefully done.

Yep, I'm glad they took the high road and didn't etch anything on the blade, the little etch on the stag is cool.

It's much better than the shield on mine. It sticks out way too far on one side and you can even see the glue coming out from he back side. Once again I'm jealous of the CV.

Case is now offering Select Stag on their production models that rival anything Gec is offering, but of course it is bringing the price up to near GEC prices also. So I guess along with anything in life you get what you pay for. But if you are a Case lover the increase in price is worth it.

Really good looking Trapper you have there. I just picked up one in SS with amber jigged bone at my local Ace Hardware. I actually paid less for it than I would've had I ordered it from my usual online source, which makes me like it even more. And just as a sidenote, I was going to make a pocket pouch for it,but have discovered that those nylon mini mag pouches fit the Trapper perfectly. Enjoy your new Trapper, I know I am.

I like the logo as well. Thought I like the tradition of the shield. Looks like a good blade though.

I haven't seen one yet, but they're bringing out the #47 pattern stockman in the same line. There haven't been any stag plus CV #47s in quite a while, and this one looks like a winner to me. Nice trapper, jnevill.

I hope you don't mind me piggybacking on your thread, jnevill. Here is the peanut model from this stag, CV blades, no shield, series from Case.

I am really happy with mine. The stag is thick and pretty well matched.

That's not a mini trapper is it?

BTW, my thread carping and griping about laser etch doesn't apply to this Case marking on these knives. This is certainly tastefully done and not gimmicky like the tree rings and gator hide.

Ed

Well, yes it is.

Repeat three times - Thou shalt not covet, thou shalt not covet, thou shalt not covet.... Aarrrgggghhhh!!!! That didn't work!!!

TLARbb, it is indeed a mini trapper. I wasn't sure if i was going to like the etch but the knife is well done so i'm over it.
I agree with your "gimmick" examples though

i got my mini trapper last week. It wasn't as sharp out of the box as my other case knives but a little time on the ultra fine stones of my sharpmaker and it's hair whittling. i've been EDCing this week.

Very nice! I've got my eye on that one and a peanut. Hopefully they will both be here by next weekend. If not, I've got a backup plan.

Am I right in thinking that these do not have a badge or shield or anything, just the laser etching?

TIA
