Morning folks, I finally got to see the new heritage knives in an email from Buck. Funny how different people think. In the 100 series I find the 118 to be the most versatile for my uses. I find the 120 to be the least but the 120 made it and the 118 didn't. The 102 is a decent knife but I don't care for the small handle. Guess I'll stick with the ones I have.

the 103 and 105 new pros, as 2 examples, will be great users and better than the standard models by a long shot. it's a beginning. if they sell well we may see more models upgraded...but then again maybe not.

I get your thoughts though.

The 192 Vanguard is technically a 100 series knife. We can join forces. Hey Buck! it's a long year and time to add a few more.

Yeah I agree, it seems like the extremes are taking the lead. Either real small or real big, and yes they are useful for specific tasks but as a general or common use not so much.

The under 4 inch blades I prefer folders because generally I don’t use them for tasks that need that much pressure or force where a fixed would be more appropriate. Above 4 inch I prefer fixed as I tend to use them where more force is needed. I do occasionally use my 119 or 120 for carving brisket , ham or turkey, deboning, butchering and they are ideal for that but I think for a lot of people it’s more out of novelty than a common use function or just a collection piece although I have used the 119 more.

I was really hoping to see the 117 in upgrade steel. It along with the 118 are very useful and I use the 117 more than any other fixed blade I have. For me the 4.5 inch blade seems very natural and will cover a wide range of tasks. I also like to use my 104 compadre in 4.5 inch and is a very nice camping knife. I’m considering getting the 105 pro and would be a nice size to use as well for a variety of tasks. Maybe I can get used to a 5 inch blade. I’ve never had one so maybe it’s time to try one.

Just looking at the pics, it seems like the Budgies can be taken apart. If they can be, I will be getting both, and swapping the screws, clips, and lanyard holes between the two. Black stealth version, and a green and red version for the Christmas season :)
I'll probably get the 105 Pro also...

I agree, The 118 is DEFINITELY my favorite. I've dressed out and skinned a bunch of deer with my 118.

I wonder if the 118 is just too similar to the 105?
