The new Dominator.

looks to be. I can't see FRN and framelock in one sentence, and the FRN scales seem to be on both sides. I think the Dominator's strength (in sales and performance) comes from:

(1) S30V
(2) titanium framelock

so this FRN model may have a hard time matching the performance of its big brother. For that price, I'd go with a spyderco endura, with FRN handles, a lock-back mechanism and VG10 steel.

I'm with Spyken on this, I love my Dominator because of the S30V blade and the titanium/framelock handle. Yeah sure, the lines are still sexy, but the package suffers with the lesser steel and handle materials, not to mention the liner lock instead of a framelock. Camillus will have to really price this one low to make it attractive. Perhaps they are competing with the lower priced CRKT's? I think they have a good niche with their present CUDA folders.

Looks like it's going for half the price of the original. Not a bad move, considering a lot of younger knife knuts may not be up for hundred & fifty dollar knives otherwise, but like the style. I know there was a time I wouldn't imagine going for a custom, but I'd buy the collaboration.

This knife will be on the street for $50-55 according to Camillus and the liner lock is not the ordinary liner lock, again according to them.

$50 street price makes it interesting, IMO ... if it's not a liner lock. The claim about it not being a standard liner lock is intriguing, looking forward to hearing more. If they've come up with a good safe twist on the l.l., I'll have one!

OK - From everything I have seen or heard, I doubt if any of you have seen this knife, must less handled it; yet your criticism is already pretty strident.

First - IMHO we should trust Camillus to put out a pretty decent product; and -
Second - Wait until we have handled the knife, and then if it deserves criticism - Have at it.

Also, does anyone know if this is THE FRN Dominator - There is no mention on the Camillus web site that this knife, The Heat, is Robo Assisted.
