Good day Sirs,

I've been hanging on Bladeforums for a while now, and besides some quite modern heavy duty cutlery, I finally arrived here to Traditional Subforum. Not that traditional knives couldn't handle heavy tasks, of course, I hope you know what I mean. I got bitten by the Traditional Bug this month and decided to purchase the Scagel Fruitport in stag handles. So far I can say it's the sharpest knife I've ever handled, very good-looking, easy to EDC, and cuts everything I need to get cut.
Let's see yet what this addiction leads to...

Enjoy the pics, and by the way, I've already oiled the joints ;)
Filip

Wow! That's some first traditional slipjoint! You have a beautiful Scagal there!! And great lookin stag! Welcome!!

Hi Filip,

Nice knife and welcome to the traditionals. I am a recent convert from modern, although not heavy duty, modern designs as well. I have a question about you Scagel, does that unique nail notch (hole) allow for single handed opening?

- David

Nice one, and welcome to traditionals.
David, that nail nick is how Scagel did them way back when.

Thanks for the kind words you all!
David, the knife cannot be opened with one hand, I tried :D The blade holds too tight. I like how it clicks when opened, it's really quite firm, no chance opening it one handed.
Zipin44, it's 1095 carbon steel. Curious about the patina it'll surely develop :)

Thanks. I happen to be looking for two trappers, one 3 1/2 and the other 3 3/4 - 3 7/8.

You made an excellent choice there Filip.J Furthermore, as it ages it will look even better, can't say that about many things! Good to hear from you.

Congrats on a superb choice. I've the same in smooth bone.
And, I hope whatever's in your glass goes down as smooth as does the Bushmills in mine!:D

Gentlemen, I'm not sure I'm a convert, I EDC the Scagel in my jeans and Horton Necker in my jacket :D And I love both :)

David, this one is 3 3/4".

I think I want a CV Case peanut yet.
And yes Ditch, there was a quite good whisky in the glass :D

Nice choice of an EDC, Filip. Great looking and functional, and picks up where the Scagel story left off!
Good job on oiling the joints, also!!:D
