So I know everyone took note when the Inkosi came out that the heat treat had been bumped up to 59-60RC from the old CRK standard of 58-59. And now we're seeing Sebenza 25s showing up with the same new 59-60RC on the birthcards.

I'm just curious if anyone else out there knows more about this. Is this becoming standard on all CRKs going forward? Obviously the big question is if the 21 is also moving to the higher RC.

And upon further investigation, it looks like all the folders are listed on CRK's website now at 59-60. Very interesting...

Good question. Does anyone have one of each with the same edge sharpened? I am wondering how the extra heat treat affect edge retention? Should improve it but wonder if it is noticeable?

Yes, the whole line switched to the higher Rockwell in 2013. The cards, for whatever reason, weren't updated until recently.

I had heard the same thing a few months back. how recent is "recently?" I bought mine brand new and the birth card still has the old hardness on it, so I'm just curious when exactly they began changing them.

I have noticed a little better in the "frequency of sharpening" ordeal, with my small Insingos, one "old" one "new".
I like the new hardness.
