Hi,

I had a long telephone conversation with a very nice guy at Inova yesterday concerning some of their new model translucent cased Microlights and I must say that their customer service ranks very high on my list.

One of the nice things of our conversation was that I made some comments on the old INOVA 5X and he told me that the new improved model is to be send out within a couple of weeks time and it will have:

1. a 3 position tailcap (locked/momentary switch/permanently on) and
it will be waterproof to 100 feet!
2. The lanyard hole will accept an normal 550 parachute cord.
3. It will be hard (H3) anodized (titanium and Black color as far as
he told me)

That's great news I think and I just need to get one.

Nice detective work, Bagheera! I have an X5 already and am looking forward to the new improved ones.

Oh, no.

That's confirmed it.
I'll need to get one now - anything you recommend has a certain cool streak to it.

'sides, how else will I use those batteris my 6P eats?

How does the Inova X5 compare to regular lights in lumens?
I only have a single led light and it is great for battery life.
Could a X5 replace a tactical light?

Paddlefoot64,

The candlepower forums is a great place to find info on these kind of questions. ( http://www.candlepowerforums.com )

It most certainly isn't a Surefire 6P with a P61 bulb in it but it won't drain 2 expensive 3 V Dl123 Lithium cells in 20 minutes like my 6P does with the P61 lamp, it runs about 20 hours.

My experience with a 4 LED Traser-UK flashlight running on 3 AA cells is that it throws enough light for anything I need light for when I'm out camping with the Scouts. The INOVA 5X runs 5 LED's on 6 Volts and seems to throw quiet an good beam.
But I keep my 6P as backup when I really need to light some object 50-75 yards away.

Yes, got one too.

Still haven't seen a really strong reason to trade up to e2e.
[In fact, I've thought about the G2 - which I hear takes P61,too]

The new X5 is called the X5 MT ( Metal Tactical ). I am real excited it should be great!

Piet, thanks for the update. Let me know any time you need batteries, can't have you leading those kids around without a spare set!

Yes, thanks so much for the info!

I just gave away my X5 as a birthday gift to my brother in-law, I need to get one of these, I hope it comes out soon.

Hi guys,

No problem, just a question, where do you normally buy the Inova 5X for an affordable price?
I (we) decided that we need one (or two) before the summer holidays, that is the improved tail switch model.

James, we still have enough 3 V lithium cells and using an Inova instead of an Surefire P6 will save some batteries for sure.
