The New Umnumzaan Pivot and stop disc

I ordered this knife from knifeart last week. I looked at the picture on their website, it displays the Umnumzaan with the original pivot so I called them up and I order this knife along with the pivot tool. They didn't bother to tell me that the pivot tool is not needed and I ended up paying for a useless tool. Here is is a video showing you guys the new pivot to see what you think.

Nice thread about the new pivot in the CRK subforum. Minimizing parts to be manufactured seems to be a good decision. Especially since the new Sebenza 25 will use the same pivot.
 
I think if they changed the pivot was for a good reason, I'm just mad a knifeart that didn't disclose this when ordering the pivot tool along with this knife.
 
Thank you for the video. The new pivot doesn't look that bad at all. It's just different looking that's all. On the pivot tool I'm sure if you call knifeart and explain what happend they will give you a refund.
 
Sweet I just got mine it was born sept. 6,2012 . What about yours? Yeah that sucks about the tool I'm sure knife art will take it back.
 
I'm a big CRk fan and got an Umnumzaan a few weeks ago.
I was specifically looking for one without the "Idaho Made" stamp and lock stop.
S30V was also the only steel i was looking for because i have no desire to try the newer steel CR is offering!
Now, seeing all these changes to the Umnum i can't help but to feel glad i bought the one i did:D
I'm really not a fan of these mods!
I much prefer the "old" pivot than this one. I believe that was the thing that gave it the "Boss" look!
The jimping also seems better on the "older" version.
The Umnum is my favourite full size folder at the moment and it's quite a surprise to see these mods to be honest.
How much different will the Umnum be from now on than any other Sebenza?
Specially if comparing to the 25 that will no longer have the bushing system!
Will only the blade shape make you decide wich one to buy??:confused:
As stated above, i LOVE CRks because of all the good things they had different than all other folders but now, and i hate to say this, i believe they are dangerously getting to the average level of most titanium framelocks regardless of the reasons they had to change it!

I'm glad I got my Sebenza 21 now, because I'm not a fan of the changes made on the 25. Need to find an Umnum with the old pivot and no lock disk. I understand the reason for the changes on the Umnum (not the changes on the 25 though... No bushing is madness IMO), but it still doesn't look or feel right to me.
 
Wow, I didn't like when they added that goofy lockdisc and now they've really changed the look of the knife. That huge pivot was a big part of the "look" of the Um, I'm glad I got mine when I did :)
