Great !

I can only visit on saturday, but I'll be sure to visit at leat knifeArt (great site and selection by the way)

and tactical knives - which I buy anyway every month.

And of course RJ Martin, who I heard is going to be there. (Which will probably mean I order a knife I cannot afford and have to wait for a year and will be utterly impressed with when it arrives)

Best wishes, Staba-san

Mr. Ron Newton from London, Arkansas will also be there. Ron has been making some fantastic knives and will be going for his Master Smith stamp in Atlanta next year (hopefully). A very fine person that makes very fine knives. Ray Kirk

I'd like to get back to part of the original question, as this is also my first REAL knife show. I say real because I've seen alot of knives at the many gun shows I attend and it's quite humorous seeing the crap alot of gun dealers think is a nice knife (S&W autos, "Rambo" bowies-"just like the one in the movie"etc. I have several very nice customs that are in as new condition, and I'm not looking to cash in, simply to trade up or over to something that appeals to me more now. Is it proper etiquette to attempt to negotiate a trade with a dealer or is that considered off limits. This is obviously a show for new pieces and I would not think it proper to turn it into a Cairo flea market, but I would not want to miss out on the possibility of a good trade if such an opportunity existed.
Thanks, Cappy

The following are makers, companys, suppliers that I' ve encountered in past shows in NYC (not complete of course):

Dozier, Nealy, Fowler, Anderson (lots of lefty folders!), Crawford, Busse, REKAT (I forget the lovely ladys name), Jot Khalsa (check out his boots!), Emerson, Polkowski, Les Robertson, BM, Spyderco, Chris Reeve, Perrin, Szabo, AG Russel, Szilaski, Meerdink, Farid (as of late), Lile, Viele, Fujisaka, Timberline, Masecraft Supplies, Classic Cutlery, RJ Martin, Pfiefer, TK and Blade Magazine, Gil Hibben (sorry) and a few dealers(gun show category) with the standard stuff and some surprising oddballs!

Your chances are better with the public attendees if you want to trade or sell. There are tables and chairs in the roomy lobby for private conversations. I imagine there are a few of the dealers (non makers) such as Les Robertson and Classic Cutlery who might want to buy or trade. Generally, most of the makers don' t seem geared towards making purchases from public attendees but one never knows. Besides, all the makers are given at least an hour to do their own "shopping" before the show officially opens to the public.

PS- it is a good idea to bring a small brief case or some sort of gear bag if you are a literature/ catalog "collector". It is a strong idea to bring some bandaids and a small bottle of those antibacterial waterless hand cleaners as well. Lots of people, hands, germs and sharp edges.

I'm looking forward very much to meeting all of You. Quite impressive list of makers and dealers. I have a feeling I'll learn more about knives in one day than I have in a year.

Best wishes, Staba-san
