If it isn't already there, someone might want to add it to the casual bombshell thread. Sal posted this in a thread on Reviews & Testing. I may be mistaken, but these were mentioned before, maybe just not as the confirmed next four in the pipeline.

Our next 4 Mule Teams are a Takefu Damascus, Hitachi's Aogami Super Blue, Takefu Cobalt Special and Uddehom's M390

*pumps fist in air for Super Blue*

Am looking forward to all of those, just got notice for K@G stabilizer that 7lbs of blocks are on the way back to me, now I just need the steel.

We try to do one each quarter. I believe the Damascus version is scheduled to be released October 1st.

what is takefu damascus ?

suminagashi with a solid steel core or solid damascus steel ? if it's the first what's the core steel ?
.
AS is a great idea, this steel is great but it loves high hardness anything below 63 HRC is a waste imho. i love it in kitchen knives.

Yikes!

The new Mule and the M4 Millie both in early Oct? Who needs to pay bills anyway - LOL.

Cool.

Why Damascus? I would have thought Spyderco would have gone for the "core" steel...unless there is some cool property added by layering!

Will look forward to this for sure.

I think the patterned steel has a VG-10 core. There were requests for damascus when the forums were polled, so that or plans for some fancy sprints like the blue delica. If it is a VG-10 core, there should be some sort of effect on overall toughness with the other steel cladding used for patterning, but the edge will cut the same as any VG-10 Spydie ground & sharpened the same way.

Sal posted this about the Damascus Mule on the Spyderco forums back in April:

There is a special Takefu Damascus that has a VG-10 core and some interesting purpose to their layers.

When asked what the "interesting purpose" was, Sal later replied:

We'll have a full explanation with the Mule. :p

I'm very interested in finding out more about the Damascus Mule. If it's going to be available on Oct. 1st, I'd expect an announcement from Kristi any day, as she usually gives at least a weeks notice on these.

Dang, I wonder if they still pay small sum for blood donations... If that is so... Blood drive here I come and then waiting Aogami Super Blue mule :D

And for my next trick, I'm going to predict next weeks winning lotto numbers: 4 8 15 16 23 42.
