Alright, I'm now beginning to look into my next knife, having obtained my paramilitary. Here are my new candidates:

Kershaw Random Leek

Kershaw Spec Bump

Kershaw Storm 3.5 inch recurve

Benchmade Mini skirmish

Of course, anyone can feel free to add their own candidates, but vote for at least one or two of these.

Kershaw Storm II is a great bang-for-the-buck knife. Mine came OOB extremely sharp, feels great in my hand and the edge is pretty thin making it an excellent user. Only down side is the texturing on those sandpaper inserts are REALLY coarse. It can chew up a pocket fairly fast unless you take some of the bite off of it.

Kershaw Bump is a big bling-bling folder. :) Premium materials and top shelf anodizing job make it a beautiful folder that looks good no matter where you take it or what ever you do with it. I have the green one and it is a very :cool:nice  knife. It's a bit expensive, but I think it was worth the expense. The Bump is also a great cutter. I was a bit suspicious with that odd recurve the blade has, but it's working out nicely.

A BIG plus for both knives is the fact they are both made in the USA and both are well done Frame Locks.

Kershaw has been getting a lot of my money lately with these new designs they and Ken Onion are coming up with.

Well, of course... my vote goes for the Random Leek. I just posted a couple more pics in the Random Leek Pics thread to wet your appetite... :D

My vote of the 2 that you have listed:
Spec. Bump
Mini Skirmish.

And I would like to add: Buck/Mayo TNT
I personally LOVE the Kershaw/Ken Onion's assisted openers!! Any of them are a great choice, you can't go wrong!!

Yeah, despite not owning any Kershaws (!) I do really like them, and have used them for quite a while now. Kershaw is really moving up in my list, I used to like them a lot but think of them more on a bit of the low-end knife spectrum (sub 60 dollars), but Kershaw is releasing some higher end productions that I really think are worth it.

The regular Skirmish is illegal to carry here in Texas, so I ruled it out. And it's too gawdy for me, my personal preference.

OH DUH!! I just noticed you asked about the new SPEC Bump. :foot:

If you find you ever want the Frame Lock version, the green or blue Bumps are worth it IMO.

Be sure to post your thoughts on the Spec Bump if you get one. I've been curious about them since I first read about them.

Also, if you go with the mini Skirmish make sure you hold one first. That is, if you've already handled it's big brother. The mini felt really, well, mini in my hand after using the big Skirmish.

Well, that's what I really liked about the mini skirmish, it felt fantastic in my hand, and the blade was bigger than the handle, which for some reason, really appeals to me. I don't have any mid sized knives...I have lots of 3 inch knives, and several 4 inch knives, and not even one inbetween, so most of those are efforts to feel that void.

I've handled the colored Bumps and they were great and extremely surprisingly grippy, but the designs are just too colorful and extreme for me. I tend to like really plain knives--any of those knives, except for maybe the random leek, will be my most extreme looking knife.

I'm almost sure I'll get a spec bump sooner or later.

why not to wait until new Kershaw Offset will be availaible? Its the Blade Show 2005 knife of the year, looks lovely and I wonder how this injection molded 440c steel performs...

I agree with misque I have a blur but I think they are pretty much the same thing are they not.

i would go with the skirmish I was almost gonna get it. Perfect size IMO! and pretty damn nice looking, not to mention s30v with a solid heat treat.

wow, you've got quite a good selection to choose from there. I've got a 3" Storm Tanto and like all Kershaws, it really is shaving sharp when NIB, but it really tears up the pockets, and oddly enough I find it kinda hard to open as the thumb studs are slanted. hopefuly they'll start making this with the Speed Safe mechanism someday. Out of the three kershaws though, it is the cheapest (if that matters at all.)

My current personal favorite knife at the moment is the Leek, which I've been using for an EDC for the past two and a half years. Shaving sharp, feather light, lifetime warranty on the spring and it's assisted-opening mechanism works wonderfully. It's also only about $40 if you look around. I am biased towards this knife though because due to it's size and non-auto status, it's about the coolest thing I can legally carry here in Illinois, 'cept maybe a 3" balisong.

Although if I had the money, and lived in a state that let me carry something with a blade larger than three inches, I'd be all over the Bump, so that's where my vote lies.

My vote is for the Spec Bump. I like the looks of the(Mini)-Skirmish but am still trying to get myself into the smooth-ish Ti handles. I'm in more of a G-10 or Micarta mood with my handle selection currently. I should be getting a Spec Bump tomorrow if UPS doesn't screw up again (it was supposed to get here today  ). I'll post my impressions and maybe some pics once I get a chance to play with it some.

Let's go ahead and add the full sized Skirmish back in to the fray...they've introduced some new looks I like more and I learned that they're legal to carry here.
