This movie showed up in my Netflix recommendations.

The title immediately struck me as something like "The Bus to Hawaii." Kathmandu is in a valley in the mountains. You either fly in to Kathmandu or travel in over primitive roads.

Watching the movie was fun. It was filmed in Nepal in the late 80s and has lots of footage of Kathmandu and the Nepalese countryside. It doesn't show much of Nepalese culture though, and most of the actors are not Nepalese. The story is a reworking of Brigadoon. It's sort of Disney-style, aimed at kids. It's not a movie to be taken too seriously, but it is an entertaining tale and does give some interesting glimpses of Nepal in the late 80s.

Thank for the movie info, Howard
