Hello & good day, Spark...
I am appealing to you about the decision made by Ken C. (Super Duper Whuper Mod Jr.
) to lock my thread, based on a possible violation of Forum policy... The solicitation of funds from BladeForum members... for the purpose of donating to (in this case) "no-kill" animal shelters and "catch & release or adopt" spay/neuter programs to reduce problematic populations of feral cats & dogs here in the U.S.
I was not aware of this policy of solicitation, mainly because I've seen many other worthy projects here on BladeForums that do involve a solicitation of sorts, in my short time here as a member, including the rescuing of this awesome Forum last May, knife projects, membership purchasing for other members ( I'm guilty there, too!) and others.
With my small project, I plan to absorb all costs and donate 100% of all money raised... Actually, up to 200%, as I plan to match all donations collected dollar for dollar, up to $1000 of my own money in an effort to raise $2000+ for 3 or 4 very worthy charities. These have not been selected yet, but I have also been very clear that these Org.'s are still being sought out AND that NO ONE should try to send money UNTIL I've posted exactly where this donated money will be going to so that all potential donors' will know exactly what & who they would be donating to before making the decision as to how much they wish to give.
This project came about after some very unpleasant posts and a specific graphic image posted in a forum here on BladeForums.com other than Whine & Cheese over the Memorial Day weekend, and as disgusting as that image was, and the threatening PM that I received as a result of my involvement, I wanted to make something positive rise out of something negative and offensive to many more than just myself. Once I cooled down, I came up with this charitable project to address both my issues AND also the issues of the other member in hopes that A.) awareness to this problem can be raised. B.) Some animals will be sheltered or adopted instead of outright killed, and C.) other wilder feral cats & dogs will not be able to contribute to the feral population by way of breeding, once caught & 'fixed'.
I hold absolutely no ill will towards Ken C. for doing his job according to policy, but I now beg you to unlock my thread and allow me to finish this small project, PLEASE. I will absolutely be willing to post any and all documentation of this project publically, or to you in an email to show that all monies did indeed go to where I claim them to be going once I am able to collect and send them.
