Hello!

I just realized that I need a knife. I have a leatherman multitool in my desk drawer, swiss armyknife in my bag, couple of scandinavian hunting/wood processing (sorry about my english) knives... All of them are just what they are, tools.
For some time now, I've noticed myself browsing through internet searching for some nice knife to keep with me. That Leatherman will still be in my drawer and those other knives can stay in my toolbox but I wan't something different in my backpack. There's nothing wrong with my swiss army pocket knife (actually I have couple of them) but I want something more 'special'?! :)

It will be used in daily life when not home (mostly screwdriver and bottle opener) but mostly when travelling, outdoors. I would like it to have (besides the blade) bottle/can opener and screwdriver(s). I know that I won't find any damascos blade with handmade handle integrated with some bottle opener and other tools but there has to be something out there?!

This far I've found Leatherman's new folding knives and Buck Summit folding knife. Any other possibilities will be appreciated!

I think the Ritter mini-Grip would be a great first knife. It is probably one of the best overal values out there right now and with the S30V and the Axis lock, I think it would make a perfect one and only "real" folder.

If that is a bit pricey for you, you could also consider the other Benchmade Griptilian knives, some of which can be found for under $50. You'll get the same great handle and lock, but a different blade steel and blade shape.

I second the Benchmade Ritter Survival Knife (RSK) or mini-RSK. I was also stictly a SAK & multi-tool guy, and I decided that I needed a dedicated primary one-hand opening blade. The RSK became my first 'real' knife. It has really opened my eyes to what 'quality' is in a blade. It also infected me with this disease, where I have to spend all my money on buying other Benchmade knives with drop point blades and axis-locks to see if they will bring me the same 'high' that I get from using the RSK and mini-RSK.

The A.G Russell Premium Scout Knife is worth looking at. You get a good sized blade, bottle opener, can opener, awl and flat blade screwdriver. The blade is even 154CM, and you can go for either india stag or jigged bone scales. Definitely "more special" than your average SAK. I hear the fit and finish on these knives are superb.
