Introducing the BladeForums 2000 SIFU!
(Order Form at bottom)

As many of you know the Round Eye Knife and Tool SIFU was born right here on BladeForums. To celebrate it's first year on the market, Bob Taylor (Round Eye Knife and Tool) and Mike Turber (BladeForums.Com owner) have designed an exclusive edition.

This new model features REKAT's modified D2 steel and a new handle in which the last four finger grooves have been removed. The pic below is taken directly from the CAD Drawing by Mike Turber, Bob Taylor, Bob Brothers and DC Williams. As soon as the knives become available we will post new pics.

The first production run will be limited to 150 pieces and will be specially marked "BladeForums.com 2000 Special Edition D2-SIFU". The actual mark may be slightly different. There will be 75 available in stonewash and 75 in Walter Birdsong's special Black-T coating.

This new version retains the awesome and incredible cutting power and characteristics of the SIFU while giving it a new sleek and SEXY figure! The original SIFU, shown at left, is a statement to REKATs dedication to satisfy the most demanding consumer. A perfect knife for FMA fighting styles. The REKAT Sifu is the worlds first "megafolder" to incorporate the REKAT Rolling Lock. A commanding 12" OAL gives this knife extreme reach, and the multiple finger grooves allow you to choke up or down as you see fit.

Seeing the lack of an "oversized" production folder on the market with a REKAT Rolling Lock, and recognizing the demand for just that sort of knife, Bob Taylor and his design team sat down and combined the best features of the Carnivore and Pocket Hobbit Knives, while increasing the overall length and strength. The resulting knife is equally comfortable in the forward or reverse grip, with it's ergonomic swells filling the palm comfortably. The knife has been a big hit at the TREXPO and BLADE Shows, with every user commenting on it's solidity and size. The recurved ATS-34 Blade can be had with either a Stonewashed or W.E. Birdsong Black T finish, and comes standard with a tip up pocket clip. Because of the sheer size of this knife, Bob Taylor had to re-engineer the Rolling Lock™ to increase it's already considerable strength; the Sifu is estimated to hold 740 lb's before failure.

Each Sifu features dual (ambidextrous) thumbstuds and all stainless steel fittings and liners. The handle scales are made from G-10 that has been precision machined to be both ergonomic and snag resistant. Each scale also features beveled edges for greater user comfort.

You do realize that my savings are disapearing faster than the rain forrests!!!
Is it really that hard NOT to turn out so many wonderful new knives so quickly?

Is this the "special new thing" that Spark was saying he would have to buy?

It is not the fall that kills you. It is the realization that "yes, you did something that stupid."

Mike, any chance there will be a carbon fiber version?

I already placed my order for mine. I like the D2 (or any other similar steel), and want the Black-T coated, plain edge blade.

I don't care too much what kind of handle material it has (G10, correct?), as I am sure anything will work for what I intend to use it for.

I love the forward curve of the handle! That will make it very ergonomic for daily use, give good reach and edge presentation and also allow me to put out some real mean snap cuts.

I hope it comes with a pocket clip or I may reconsider.

As far as design, I like the design exactly like the CAD shows it in Mike's post above. It is perfect. Good work guys.
I told Bob Taylor a long time ago that if he made it, I would buy it. So...
My order is in, let me know when it is ready and when to send the payment.

I was already looking at the red handled Forum knife, but I think I'll wait for the D2 now, especially with the special handle

I'm down for a stonewashed version.

Wow, for such a short message, so many typos

I would like a stonewashed please!

I placed an order with credit card, but I'd rather send a money order when it's ready!!

Thanks

Thanks Mike, I must have one of those in Blk T (how 'bout w/carbon fiber too?). I'm glad your producing it w/that handle configuration 'cause grinding the standard finger grooves off w/out burning the G-10 is no joy ride. Also I like your rendition of the 2nd but more subtle groove. In hindsight I would've left mine a tad larger 'cause you really need it when you choke back.

I just made a deal for one of the production carbon fiber versions, this should be interesting.

And I stayed home this weekend to save $!!! I wonder when the "shakes" start in while waiting for it to get here?

Hank

No need to pre pay on these. I will foot the bill until I get them secured from Bob and on the road to us.

Hey Mike...I ordered one on my credit card but I'd rather just pay you when they get here. Can you fix it so my card doesn't get charged? Order number 3062. I wasn't quite sure how to do this but I don't want to miss out!!

RC

Mike,
Removing the finger notches is a GREAT idea!!! I got rid of my first run SIFU because it didn't fit my big fat fingers AT ALL!!!
D2 is a fantastic idea also

Mike, Pardon me for being dense. So you will notify us when they are in and then we can send in money orders?

Thanks
RC

You can do either but if you want one guaranteed you better order now. Overseas customers will need to pay up front. Sorry about that but I am not going to lose another $7,000+ playing credit card games.

Okay, I'm in. I got up enough nerve to press the [submit order] button. This thing is going to cost me over $220 Canadian! It better be one damn good knife!
wink.gif

Someone help me out here and tell me I did the right thing.

P.S. I'm going to be ticked off if I see it selling at discount knives for $100 after two weeks of release.
