Ive been working on my jeep a lot over the past few weekends and was wondering if any of you guys are into 4wd trucks, jeeps, wheelers, etc.

If yall have any pictures of your badd-to-the-bones offroad rig, please post them up so we can see what your working with!

Heres a few of my heap o' junk.

This is my boy helping me 'fix things'

Loaded down and ready to ride!

Fun day in the mud.

Heres an older one of it all cleaned up and before I cut the fenders off. (That's my dad driving)

My brother and I both used to be involved in 4 wheeling. He had a 1957 Chevy pickup body mounted on a shortened 1974 3/4 ton Chevy frame, with lift kit and a 454 Chevy engine. I had a 1978 Land Cruiser that I bought new, and used stock for many years. I later put a 350 Chevy motor in it. It used to be that every vehicle I owned was 4wd, including a 1976 Jeep CJ5, 1977 Chevy pickup, the 1978 LC, S10 pickups, S10 Blazers, and my 2012 Jeep that got stolen. The closest thing I have now is my wife's AWD Jeep Compass.

Man. That '78 Land Cruiser is like royalty in the offroad world!

Sounds like you had vehicles when they were built like tanks. They sure don't make like that anymore.

My little jeep is only a 4-cylinder pushing 110 horsepower. BUT, when I put it in 4wd low, I could climb a tree if I wanted to.

The LC originally had a 258ci 6 cylinder, with a 4 speed and 4:10 gears front and rear. I bought it new in 1978 for $5500, that was a lot of money then.

HA! I paid the same thing for my jeep in 2011.
It has the 4.10 gears in it right now, but me and my dad are in the process of swapping out axles.

Im putting a Ford 8.8 in the rear with a Detroit Locker and 4.88 gears.
In the front im using a Dana 44 with an Eaton E-Locker along with the 4.88 gear set.

That's the Ford 8.8 pictured below. It has the same width as my stock axle so it will bolt right up.

My best friend was a farmer, and there were a couple of swamps and lots of hills on part of his property. He had a 1968 Bronco with a 302 in it, so we used to 4 wheel on his land.

Yeah, im waitin on bigchelis to chim in. I know hes into jeeps and 4wds. These ant hills in Louisiana aint got nothing on his mountains in California!

I have a 93 YJ that takes us through some interesting spots occasionally. When we are out the 4-wheeling is usually part of the adventure not our goal. It saves a lot of walking to places to hunt, camp, or fish for natives. When we first got it a few years ago my wife was totally against any modifications. She has softened her stance some so I may get to do a little to it this year. There is a trail not too far from home that draws drivers from miles away. It's the Potts Mountain Jeep Trail that I have been on a few times only because it saves me a lot of uphill walking to hunt. I can't find a website but there are plenty of pics online if you search.

Yeah, got that right. Some of my funnest times riding with friends was getting stuck and then figuring out how to get out.

This is my buddy Jason and his 'stockish' TJ. He almost crapped his pants when he hit this washout while we were riding at night.
What you don't see is my other buddy standing on the rear passenger side bumper keeping all four wheels on the ground!

i use to be huge into it with 4 wheelers when I lived in Louisiana. had some crazy brute forces and can am's. Always put my own lifts on them and snorkled them. most had 29.5's and relocated radiators. Then I moved back to Indiana when I got out of the Army and the nearest mudholes were just to far away. I think I might still have some pics let me check.

Not a great pic but you can see the snorkles and stuff in it. this one was a blast and very very fast.

Heck yeah! Those things are monsters!

I watched a guy get stuck on an Outlander 850 one time, he was throwing rooster tails so bad that you could hardly see the 4wheeler from all the water and mud in the air.

Here I am with my Powerwagon. Stock they come with 4:56 gears, warn winch, front/rear electric lockers, electronic sway bar disconnect and under armor. Makes wheeling very easy

Wow. Im sure that dodge has a solid front axle, not ifs, right?

That is quite a truck. I think it would pull my jeep around just fine! :p

I had to give mine away after storing her for years while I was over the road.
1956 INTL S-120 4x4. Black Diamond 240 inline six, 2 stick transfer case, .456 gears and Q78-16 Buckshot mudders.
She was an absolute beast and I sure miss her.

Got the new rear end hung! :D:thumbup:

She sits a little 'squaty' in the back because we (me and my dad) refurbished the leaf springs and it made them work MUCH better.

Final trim of the U-bolts.

Fun stuff. I'm buying a 1997 F250 4x4. I hope it's all I expect it to be.

I love 4x4 vehicles.

Here I am on a buddies property wheeling and taking a break in front of a 1995 Stock Bronco. Very good rigs just not much flex.

Switched to a 2012 Wrangler with rear E-locker and 35's on otherwise stock set-up.

Then the family grew and had to get something to fit 4 people and 2 dogs. Toddlers and children while they take up very little room in a car they take up a lot of room with their strollers, car seats, diaper bags, snack bags, extra clothes, ect... So, hence the PowerWagon now. Which so far has worked out great. A ton of flex and a lot of room. the F/R Electric lockers make wheeling super easy too.

Those are 35x11.5R17 Mud tires and they look small on a Stock lift.
