Well Porkers, it's that time of year again when Mulder (aka Piglet) is feeling generous
and is kind enough to give up one of his prized old school SHBAs for a pass around.

It's on its way to forager for it's first stop, and should get there any day now.

Here are some more pics for you all to enjoy...

Be sure to post some pics when you get a chance to give her a try!!!

.

After I took the pics, I decided to sharpen her up for the trip...

(go easy on me... it's my first video. :o )

.

Nice, what did you sharpen it with?

I'll send you some of mine to sharpen next week.

.

Looking forward to the reviews. That is one sweet knife! :)

You can send them, but you might not get them back! :D :p

I sharpen by hand... first with a medium grit stone, then onto medium & fine ceramic,
and a final few passes on a strop... green compound, then bare leather.

ROFL, I thought you might say that. Nice job sharpening, I use a similar technique, I was just curious.

Maybe this thread will inspire the boss to bring out a SHBA LE for us.;)

As Lycosa would say:

I keep hearing about this one. I have tried to get in on it a few times. I never hear anything again, and it seems like the thread disappears.

Who is on the list?

+1 on the SHBA-LE, Bring it Jerry!  :)

Nice job sharpening that, Foo. Another SHBA was in MA - I wonder if that affected the spin of the earth. LOL

Helluva knife. I'm reluctant to sharpen mine any more but there are some "goofs" from the factory that just bother me - one on the belly, one at the choil. With paper, it goes, SLIIIIIIIICE-hiccup! They are just too deep to truly fix without taking off more steel. I guess I could try and add a secondary bevel, but I don't want to muck that up either.

But I love it. Feels great in teh hand, despite the massiveness of it.

Foo,

Thanks for sharpening the "Beast" and getting it sent out.
Looking forward to reading the reviews and seeing what you guys think.
I've sent PM's to those interested in being included.

I just received it about a half an hour ago, actually :D A Fatty(.293) in A2

First Impressions. I have to get one
It has just enough palm swell to fill my hand nicely. It feels great.

I'll post more when I beat...I mean USE the SHBA :p

Here's a pic of the SHBA and my newly acquired SHMS
They match so nicely I may have to keep the BA ;)

Sweet Forager, congrats on your SHMS I was eyeing that one too on the exchange. Now go out and beat I...I... mean :D check out the performance of that SHBA she's a beauty.
And Mulder that's a really a nice gesture with loaning out your SHBA.

The SHBA is now on its way to the next lucky participant, Soulrack223.

I want to thank Mulder for the chance to be in this pass-around

I really like the feel of this knife as I said in my post above. It fills the hand and is very comfortable in use with the exception of chopping
Size wise, it is a little longer than the Boss Street but definitely wider, thicker, and heavier.

I used this in the kitchen and carried it while working for a few days.

In the kitchen this was a great knife to use. Pizza was no match for the massive A2 blade and mushrooms fell down before it. Even though it is fat (.29") it was very easy to cut up vegies and hunks of meat. The only difficulty was initially cutting onions in half before slicing them.

While working, I often have to go through briers and underbrush and usually use my NMFBM :D I used the SHBA in addition to the NMFBM. Even though the SHBA is heavy, it carried very nicely and was only noticeable when I sat down in the truck.

I finally experienced "Busse Pinky" using the SHBA. It will whack through briers readily enough if slowly (one at a time) and small branches. I used it to chop down a small sapling and in that time I could feel the hot spot forming. This is not a knife for chopping :p but will do in a pinch.

Here is the only picture that I was able to salvage from my camera. Most everything was corrupted during the download

I spent many an evening holding the SHBA and it is one of the best feeling Busse's in my opinion. It is very suited for those everyday tasks and would make a great companion to one of the mistresses on an extended trip.

I can't wait to get one

Is it possible to be included in this pass-around? I'd LOVE to be a part of it and handle this beauty. Is this possible?

EDIT - Doh! Wait a minute. I thought this was an INFI blade. Am I wrong now for not wanting to be a part of the pass-around because it is not INFI but A2?

Am I INFI-prejudiced? I guess I am now.... Is that wrong? LOL

Haven't seen any Busse A2 threads with chips to date. Triple tempered Busse A2 is AOK!
