GREAT BOOK!!! This book was written in the 50s. Seems like to long ago. It tells the story of a boy and his grandfather, who togather have many experiences that children today don't get to have. very jackknife like book! A tale of quail, barlows, and pipesmoking! 8 :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: thumbs up!!!!!!

Boy do i ever agree that this is a great book.

The author is Robert Ruark. ALL of his writing is fantastic. He was a big name author in the 50s and 60s, died and then fell from the readers scene. Most of his books need to be picked up from used book stores but they are well worth the chase.

He writes a lot about big game hunting and the Mau Mau wars. He was one of the Hemingway type writers.

Thank you for writing this - I love those old books. While it's not fiction, I can not stop reading SIXGUNS by Elmer Keith. What a different time then. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era. Thanks again and I will be sure to try to nab one o these books.
