I know Benchmade has transitioned from their older painted pocket clips to the parkerized clips... and I know I'm probably in the minority, but I actually love those painted clips and the wear they show over time.

Curious if anyone has some old 940 painted clips laying around? Trying to track some down and figured I'd start here!

I don’t think I have any left that still has the paint left on them. When the paint got a buggered up my OCD would kick in. I then would sand the paint off leaving paint in the embossed butterfly logo on the clip. I would then dip the clip in ferric acid and then stonewash the clip. I am happy they went to the parkerized/black oxide they use on the clips now. Seem far more durable. Good luck on your quest. I will take a look in my parts bin and see if I have any of the painted clips in good condition.

I believe I have 2 somewhere off my 940s. Not sure if painted, but will check them and let you know in a day or so.

thanks for your kindness brothers! if you happen to find some of the old painted standard clips (beaver tail, not deep carry or split arrow) I'd be happy to send some funds your way! Hope everyone has a good week!

Hey Big Tex, I have two of the painted older style deep carry clips that are in good condition. I believe they were off of the 551-1s and these will work on the 940s. I don’t have any of the split arrow or beaver tail style clips that are painted. I don’t recall those ever being painted though. Just let me know if you are interested.
