So there's this little shop thats run by a old man that sells surplus (non millitary) they must buy at auctions. I was looking around and dident see any thing just old cheesy cups and made in china tools. but then a light shone through. a old tackle box. I went over to look and there they where a.....plethora of knives from the past 40 years folding fixed slip joints lock backs bone celluloid leather wood and just as i was stating to get a look that old man walked up picks up the box "not for sale" and walked of..........heart break

What I did see was:
A solid aluminum automatic hair come
A old near mint marbles skinning knife in sheath
A old 5" Bowie
And a case shark tooth

What's your knife that got away?
Share you story here thanks!

I was on the list to get a new XM-18 back in 2006 from Rick Hinderer (was either a Gen 1 or Gen 2) when he was still taking orders. I got impatient, cancelled the order, and bought a Sebenza instead (which I later sold at a loss).

Patients is a Virtue...................that I'm yet to Acquire:o

I have three that keep eluding me. All three are kershaw skylines. I have missed out on a first production run, the Damascus several times, and the red one I am looking for in my sig 3 times. I die a little bit inside every time one escapes me.

I missed a 2009 Forums Barlow on the X by 5 mins....

I've never heard of Marbles before, but I got an old 5"-ish Marbles fixed blade for my birthday from my step father. He said it was his father's grandfather's knife. Heavy patina and a chipped edge that I am working on restoring.

Are they collectible?

Yes they are collectible but IMO only if in very good shape I'd just use it and think of your father and his fathers father when you do. But if you want to learn more about your knife and it's history I'd post some pics in Bernard levines knife identification and ask for a ID they'll help you out.
hope this helps.

Thanks 9blades I appreciate that. It is actually a new model and I bought one the night bladehq got them in, I still need the old red one for the collection (it has a different serial number).
