I've done alot of knife buying/selling/trading since I really got interested a few years ago. For the most part, I had no regrets about the knives that I sold/traded/gave away. There are two that I wish I could have back though: Al Mar Sere 2000 and Kershaw Boa. Looks like I'll have to put those on my short list of knives to buy. How about you guys? What about the one that got away?

I know just how you feel, kutch. I let 2 get away in the same deal. At the time, I felt it was an offer I just could not refuse. The knives were large custom Pacific Cutlery balisongs with 5 inch blades ground by Jody Samson.

One had a beautiful wee-hawk blade with maroon micarta inserted handles. The other had skeletonized stainless handles with a 5 inch wee-hawk tanto blade. One beautifully scary knife, I kid you not.:(

I feel really bad about letting a few get away. I miss a Spyderco Wegner, a Trace Rinaldi Sharktooth, and a Carnivore Cub I traded away. They were all good and fair trades (and I met some nice folks in the process!), but I sure do miss those knives.

Oh well, that's what credit cards are for, right?

:D

The guy cut me a nice fat check, Zen, but the $$$ is long gone. So are the knives I bought with it, come to think of it. Like the old saying goes....Turn and burn.

If I were to list ALL of the knives that I've sold or traded-off in the past few years that I wish I had back, it would make me cry, and I KNOW that none of you want to see a grown man cry...:(.

Here are a few, 'tho:

My "lefty" REKAT Sifu...(One that I put ALOT of work into.).
My Cold Steel stainless Trailmaster Bowie.
My large CR Sebenza Classic.
My Cold Steel San Mai Magnum II Tanto.
My Gerber BMF.
My satin AL Mar Warrior.

...And the Bill Siegle Bowie that I'm sending-off either tomorrow or Tuesday in a trade that I just made yesterday, for a SOG Trident...(But since I've wanted a Trident for so long, that one REALLY won't make me cry too badly...:D.).

I had a rec.knives1997 special edition Benchmade 850 pearl that I wish I had kept. It was the prettiest knife I have ever owned. There are a couple that I have come very close to trading away that I am sure I would have regretted. Those being a MT LCC D/A (2nd Gen.) and a Large Decorated Sebenza. I KNOW I would regret losing those.

There are several but the one that will haunt me forever was a engraved and filed Harvey McBurnette folder. For some strange reason I took it with me to the 2001 guild show and sold it to a buyer from A.G Russell. Got my asking price and began to regret it almost at once. After more than a year It still makes me ill to think about. That knife should have never left my collection.
I intended on buying something nice to replace it at the show, I didnt and ended up spending most of the money on a root canal the next week. Good trade huh.
