When I first got into knives a couple years ago I used to spend a good bit of tie just looking at pictures on Google. Hundreds and hundreds of pictures of all things knife. Well during those Google viewing a couple knives popped up that I just had to have. It took me 2 years to run down an Enzo Birk and it turned out to be too small for me. Well last week I was browsing the Exchange- enter the only lock back knife I have ever wanted: a Fantoni Hide. The price was too good to pass up and I have not seen another. I know there is a site that sometimes has them but never when I have funding.
This one is lightly used and the previous owner had a thumb stud installed. This is a smallish knife for me but it carries so well and fits the hand very well. It's going in the collection, I've been carrying it nonstop since I got it in. I have had and do have many knives from different makers with stone washed blades but this thing has my favorite stone wash finish I've ever seen. At first glance you wouldn't think it was stonewashed but once you look at it you see a very fine stone wash that has a glossy finish to it. I wish I could capture it in pics, the weather has been crappy here all week, maybe I'll try later. This being a back lock- and a very tight back lock at that, it's very stiff to open one handed. I can flip it about half way but that's all. Being as these were designed to be 2 handed that's ok. Steel is CPM S30V.
I'm thinking about having scales made, maybe black Ctek?
Sorry for the terrible pics...
