The only Draper Blade ever made by Harvey Draper that left his shop without ever having had an edge put to the blade.

First of all, I'm new to this forum and appreciate any help I can get. Second, please excuse my ignorance as I don't frequent forums often and am having trouble getting to the correct thread, so any assistance is much appreciated. So here's my question. I am 53 years old and back when I was about 13 my dad passed down to me a very special knife and told me to take care of it as over the years it will grow in value. Well, today some decades later, and now my father having passed away, I am trying to find someone who can appraise my Draper Blade that was given to my father by Harvey Draper from his shop without ever having received an edge. Yes, it's a complete knife just less the actual sharpening. And my guess is it's the only one in existence. Any help in directing me somewhere where I may have it valuated would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin

Someone here can help you. Because asking about knife value is a proposition that can gain you money, and the site costs the owner money to run, the site rules require you to have a paid membership in order to ask for values. As well as to sell on the site. It is a worthwhile expense to become a paid member, given the many thousands of members and their collective experience. Level up and you will have no difficulty getting the answer you seek. Welcome to the forum Justin!

Thank you so much. I'll look into the membership.

My first forum membership...And some pics to my Draper Blade. It's hard to tell in the pics, but the knife is edge free and has never been used or sharpened in all these decades. Again, just looking for some help on valuating it due to it's one of a kind uniqueness. Thanks again!

Can i just borrow some cash please. Im good for it. Trust me !!
I'm not quite certain I fully comprehend your meaning, however, in the spirit of giving what the heck, right? Just forward me some account information and I'll wire it right over. "I'm good for it. Trust me!"

Given to my dad by Harvey Draper and then passed down to me when I was about 13 years old. I'm 53 today and still have this Draper Blade. I would guess it's the only one of it's kind. May my dad and Harvey RIP.

Good job and great pics Justin. It’s a beautiful knife but I’m not really familiar with the maker . Let me think of a few guys around here to tag into your thread that might know a bit more than me.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the help and warm welcome. Furthermore, as an avid knife collector, I wish I had been involved here sooner.

Cool blade👍.....Personally, that blade would hold more personal value than monetary by a long shot......Even if it was a Loveless I'd wanna be using that pretty blade...👌
Thank you! And you are correct. I have zero intention of selling it, but my dad had told me that someday it would have value. It's twofold for me. One, That it is unique and that my dad passed down something that I can be proud to own. And two, whenever I talk to my dad I use that knife as the gateway to speak to him. I remember him by it and for those reasons I would never part with it. On the flipside of that, I immediately parted with the .38 S&W revolver that he used to take his own life with. Sorry if that's too much info, but I say this publicly because it provides contrast as to why the knife holds more than monetary value. Besides, I'm over it. I still love the sonofabitch and tell him all the time, too, lol.

Welcome to the forums and enjoy yourself..... Family is tough....... Keep the good memories and.toss the garbage so to speak.😉 Easier said than done but time and distance does help healing.

Again welcome!!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing your knife/knives around!!!👍
Best,

James

Nice example….

Unfortunately I’ve received knives that weren’t sharpened…never thought much of it. 🙃

I would not think that the fact that the original maker did not sharpen a knife would add value, might even take a tiny bit away, since it is technically unfinished. I certainly wouldn't pay more for a custom knife, just because it didn't have that done. But that is only my opinion, and others may well think differently.
My suggestion would be to look at other Harvey Draper blades that have sold, so you can see what others have gotten for their knives, and get an idea of the value. It is certainly "unused" so that it's in original condition from the maker. If it has an original sheath from the maker, that's a plus also. A place to start might be Arizona knives, look in knives by maker. You will find some there. Good luck.

Might try visiting the Draper web-site or f.b. page...there is a current one.
As an aside...in 2015 I bought a #1 Randall @ a gunshow 6" blade that had never been sharpened. At least that's what the Randall shop told me when I sent it in for evaluation....they had no explanation. I paid them to sharpen it and send it back.
