The only way to get your account deleted is to be banned

There should be a clear pathway to delete your account. I would like my account deleted. My reasons are my own. I am quitting all of social media because I've learned it has made my life a lot better in general to do so. There is no way to delete your account on this platform. The best way to do so is to get your account permanently banned, which is encouraging bad behavior. I do not want to do so, but if it would result in my account being deleted I don't see any other option. I have submitted a ticket so either this account will be deleted or my hand will be forced.

No offense, kind sir, but your desire makes no sense. If you want to quit social media, then don't visit social media sites. Whether you have an account or not doesn't matter. I'm sure members leave for some reason or another and never return. BF is not going to hunt you down to tell you that you have an account.

Tracks here cannot be covered.

Best of luck to you.

I 100% agree that the world is a better place without social media and I eschew most forms of said media outlets.

I am staying with my knife buddies though.

If you are banned, the content remains. We mods have no control over erasing the entirety of your posts and threads.
That's interesting. Someone recently attempted to leave a discussion forum where you are allowed to delete your posts. He deleted all of his posts, the forum owner brought them 'back to life', and he has taken them to court. Apparently there is a California law (I don't know about other states) where you HAVE to be allowed to remove your posts if you elect to leave a forum. I don't know the details of the law or if other states have something similar.

That sound like that would disrupt the flow of our threaded conversations.

You are free to go back and delete the content of your posts, but no one is going to do it for you.

I'd be very surprised if anyone cared enough to take the time and go back and pull your posts into the view of the public. However, that could happen in the rare instance that you had a "bad or ugly" thread in the Feedback forum and erased your posts in the attempt to obscure what happened.

CA. lol That figures. I'd be surprised if many other states had something similar and I'd also be surprised if it had sharp teeth.

In the end of the day, we are all using Spark's property at his pleasure. Saying something you regret and then getting upset at the owner of the venue because they refuse to help you undo that which you willingly did is some crybaby bravo sierra.

Agreed. I was just mentioning something I had read in another forum this week, that I thought had relevance to this situation.

If 'anyone' is worried about old posting mistakes, the best solution IMO, is to do what the OP is doing, and remove as much of your presence as possible, from social media. I only participate in a few discussion forums and have no other social media presence. It's been refreshing and generally worry-free. If I could just behave myself better in real life, things would be close to perfect.

I live in CA and would have to see evidence of the lawsuit over a forum post before I take it seriously.

It's unfortunate, I've generally enjoyed Slice O Life Slice O Life posts......
Very Insightful.

Admittedly, in his "Poop Knife" post I Was a bit disappointed with the lack of pictures of Turds, but nobody is perfect..... ;)

Succinct and to the point. Just leave and soon enough you will be gone and forgotten.

You can also self disable your account. You don’t have to get banned, you can ban yourself.

Another thing to do, if you're worried that people will find your old posts in another discussion forum (or social media platform) and think poorly of you: as you say, ban yourself from all forums (just walk away and never look back), and then carefully pick the next forums you want to participate in, using a new handle, and, most importantly, don't act like an a*hole. Sure, people will come across your old posts in various forums, but they won't know who the heck you are (and won't care) - you'll just be an anonymous historical jerk :), and there are literally millions of them out there.
