The Origin of Bechmade's Steel

I know that originally they used Hitachi USA steel. ATS-34. Once Crucible started putting out more quality 154CM steel, they went with that. Lately I could not say with their new variety of steels.

ATS-34, GIN-1, 440C, 154cm, D2, M2, M4, S30V, X15.TN, N690, AUS-8, 420-HC, AUS-10, BG-42, M390, S90V...Those are the steels...aside from Crucible products and Bohler for the M390 and N690 something like that. :) Others are welcome to chime in.

Yes, I see BKC is now seems to be using Crucible and BU in current production. (440C is also there, but Crucible may be making this)

ATS-34, GIN-1: Hitachi Heavy industry
N690, M390: Bohler-Uddeholm
154cm, D2, M2, CPM-M4, S30V, S90V: Crucible
X15.TN: Multiple manufacture. Not sure who has started.
420-HC: Common steel now a days. Latrobe?
BG-42: Latrobe.
AUS-8, AUS-10: Aich steel

440C: This is common.

Gentlemen, with all due respect, I must interject a correction. Benchmade's D2 was forged from the fiery depths of Mordor.

It's that good. True story.

^ I concur! Benchmade does great d2

They have also used 1095 on at least one fixed blade (158 CSK II). I'm not sure of the origin.

Hi, am i right in thinking that the CM in 154CM stands for chrome molly?
