Hi, Can Berk or any of you guys help me?
I am looking for the specs of Berks orignal kukri that the Berk special was copied from, Especialy the weight, balance point & clear photos of the grip!

Many thanks,
Spiral

So, some background on the Berk Special (I'd trade heavily fer one meself!)

Berk had this original khuk that he wanted historically repro-ed so, he made (or had made) a model to send to the kamis. They reproduced a few of them, all marvellous work with the big toolkit, and quite true to the original.

the model was called the Berk Special, so you might try a search on the forums for that. As for specs, I don't think that they have been listed...

You might be correct about it!

Anyhow ... I have seen this pict posted by UB few times in 1998 or 1999 either in HI Knifeforums or HI Bladeforums. I guess that pict is the original model used as the copycat! Berkeley might be of better help to give more correct info!

If I'm not mistaken special projects to replicate antique khuks were seldomly worked out during that time. Only after Pala founded BirGorkha that series of special projects were more frequently carried out. Dedicated Kamis like Bura, Sonu, Kumar and few other Kamis who I can't remember their names contributed a lot in the revivalization of such antique models.

BTW ... I still remember that there are still few models ... eg. Sherpa model and HI Logo model ... which are still not replicated till now!

Hi Mohd,

Thanks for your input, but I think you are mistaken,

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/a...?postid=1557065

is the Berk special illustrated in the archives!

The the pic you post is a fantastic kukri, Guess you will have to ask JP about it.

To my eye The carved ivory handled blade you illustrate, doesnt resembele the Berk special, The curves seem very different! but we all have different eyes I guess!

Ps.
The original link works this one doesnt seem to? very strange!
