Since its Friday, and i got off work a little early...AND i got a new camera...Gunner and I went out for a little day hike in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. I took along a few of my knives but took some time to put my Nessie from Chris to some outdoor use.

This knife has been my go to knife in the house. It is a great little slicer and has been seeing allot of use in the kitchen. Earlier this week it helped me make some pork roast with onions potatoes and carrots that has been feeding me all week. Seriously...if its in the kitchen this knife has done it...from steak to peanut butter, and has preformed flawlessly in the process.

The roast tastes better than it looks. After the knife, the gun, the flashlight, the fero rod...the crock pot is possibly the greatest invention ever conceived. Chop up some veggies add water and some sort of flavoring and a big hunk of meet...turn the pot on low and leave for work...food is done when you get home.

So now it was time to take it out and give it a test on something a little harder.

These are the other knives that made the trip with me and gunner, but they didn't see any use.

And for Gnarly...
Gunner decided it was way to hot. He ended up sitting in the shade, drinking all the water, and guarding my kit while i hiked around.

If any of you guys are interested you can check out the rest of the pictures from the trip on the W&SS sub forum...http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/875469-Day-Hike...Wichita-Mountains-Wildlife-Refuge-%28PIC-HEAVY%29

Chris thanks for the great knife.

Best,

Awesome Alan! I really appreciate the fine pics. That was the first Nessie! I also like that Culberson . We will have to get you set up for a larger blade so you wont have to take that thing anymore ;)

Nice photos, thanks for sharing. You got some sweet looking steel there.

Thanks TW.

Chris that Culberson is amazing. Bruce made it for me right after the bushcraft knife challenge. I am always ready to try out a new knife :D. Maybe after you get me set up with that bushcrafter I can send the Culberson to you for a test run...if you interested.

One of these days i need to go through my stuff and figure out exactly how many knives I still have....or maybe its better to not know. Then i don't feel guilty when i order the next one.

I would be for sure. His knives are the style I like. No frills all function!

sounds like a plan...I will let you know when I have a chance to run by the post office and pick up a box to ship it in.

Cool, let me know when you get back around this way. We will have to meet up sometime.

defiantly...by the way I spoke with Bill today on the phone. I was getting confused with my order. He straightened me out though. I think everyone is gonna really like the knife. Feather damascus pattern drop point hunter with some amazing looking wood for the scales. You know me I make everything hard. I sent the money to the wrong paypal account and Bill had to call me back and explain how to cancel the transaction :/

I love that feather Damascus! Get you some of that Eucalyptus or dyed Sycamore if he has any left.

i don't remember what kind of wood he said it was, but this is one of the pictures he sent me to look at. the first piece of wood on the pictures far left is all mine :)

I think its gonna come out really nice

You can't go wrong with some spalted wood brother! It looks like stabilized spalted Maple but I could be wrong.

that sounds right...i know its splatted and stabilized. I just forgot forgot the actual wood. Bill wasn't kidding about his wood stock...its hefty:eek:

Yeah, and his stuff aint cheap. You could probably buy one of those new metrosexual electric cars with his stock.

ha...i could just see Bill riding around in a Prius that he bought from selling his wood:rolleyes:

. . . not to try and get this thread back on track or anything, but what is that top knife in the photo of the three together ??? I don't remember KFU posting any models like it. Was this something he made from one of your drawings ??? What are the specs. as far as blade length, handle. etc. ???
OK kiddies, back to the 1-976 talk-a-thon . . . . . :D
Be safe.

sorry J1M i forgot to answer the rest of your question. If you go to the thread for bushcraft challenge and go to page 2 Bruce's knife's section starts at post #30.

The design was loosley based on the Canadian Belt Knife pattern, but less extreme and with a BAC twist. I started making knives (part time) three years ago and mentored under the semi-retired bladesmith D'arcy Ellis. Most of my knife designs are simple and made to be used.

Mine is exactly the same as this...the only difference is my sheath.
