The other blade

I turned the extra blade into a knife from my previous hunter order. Got the idea for the sheath while watching Auction Hunters on Thursday night. They showed an old antique trunk that had a fabric diamond pattern under the trunk lid. That patter really registered in my brain and I had to try it on a sheath. The knife has a 5 1/2" L-6 blade, the usual wrought iron fittings with a brilliant piece of koa I got from Mark from Its a Burl. This is one of those piece of koa that can be better appreciated held in the hand to watch the different ways the light is refracted in it. Mark says its got a lot of flash. The knife is 10 1/2" overall.

Very cool, your ringed pommels are always a nice touch.

Yeah, I like the rings too. And the diamond quilting looks great in the sheath.

You're turning out some great little knives lately, keep it up!

I had taken this photo after I did the work on the inner sheath. The diamonds and the strip of leather at the top of the sheath are all 1/8" leather. Before I add the outer finish layer of leather I coat both the inner sheath and backside of the finish leather with contact cement. When the cement drys I'll spray the outside of the finish leather with water and then stretch it before working it on the inner sheath.

I was curious about the sheaths.
Sure would be fun to see one go from start to finish.
Or some more photos of the process.
You are doing some great work Ray!
I have really enjoyed seeing each new knife.

Thanks for that sheath pic Ray. I assume the patch under the diamonds is just a step down to flatten out the handle transition area?
