We are always discussing blade shapes and steels but rarely discuss the other end of the knife, the handle.

The past few days I have been going through most of my knives, just checking them out and handling them. I was paying particular attention to the various handles and how they felt in my hand.

I came to the conclusion that the most comfortable knife I own is my Laguiole de l'Artisan Prestige 12cm with the Zebu horn tip handle. It feels as if they had taken a cast of my right hand and made a knife to fit it. It just feels right if you know what I mean.

Anyone else have a favorite handle?

John

my favorite-feeling knife is a Katz Black Kat BK-300. it feels perfect in my hand, and it's really comfortable. it's somehow soft yet firm. it's not a luxurious handle, just good old Kraton, and i wouldn't have it any other way for this knife. (clickable below)

my "nicest" handle will be this micarta F1 i have on the way

The best feeling handle I have is the RJ Martin Devastator. My hand just seems to lock in to the handle and even with the clip it is still very comfortable.

My favorite is my SnG. It's the only knife I've owned that I open, close, and use wearing gloves with no hassles. The G10 side offers plenty of grip, and the Ti side isn't as cold as stainless or aluminum to me. The big end stays put in my grip, gloves or not, and I've had no issue with the clip as I bear down on the back of the handle when cutting heavy, not with a death grip on the sides.

I've had softer or prettier, but for a tool, it's been the most versatile.

I think the Spyderco Atlantic Salt has a great handle design, and the Pacific Salt (older Endura) is'nt bad either.

But the two most comfortable handles that I have ever used are the...

Buck 110 and the Benchmade Griptilian.

The Griptilian has a very comfortable handle, but it's too dang bulky for a pants pocket. That would be all right if they came with a sheath, like the Buck 110 and Gerber Gator.

It's hard to beat the Buck Nighthawk for it's combination of ergonomics and grippy texture.

For a pocketknife, my #1 choice based on handle shape would be the Schrade Old Timer 61OT. Long slender serpentine shape fits my hand almost perfectly. But that model was discontinued even before Schrade went out of business. So I won't be carrying mine...

The unusual ergonimics of the Ghrohmann-Russell knives also are a great fit for me, especially the #1.

My most comfortable handles are those of the:

Benchmade Mini-Rukus
Buck 110
Large Classic Sebenza with inlay

I mean, these are really comfortable. I wouldn't change a thing.

My spyderco Mili and my DDR Gunhammer have extremely comfortable handles. My fav handle is a custom made out of Walrus Jawbone that just fits my hand to no end.

I tend to pay attention to the whole knife also, so my three favorites apply to both blade and handle;

Spyderco SS Endura 4
Swamp Rat Howler (second edition)
Bark River Clip Point Skinner

My favourite handles folderwise:

REKAT Carnivore
Lone Wolf Harsey T-2
Emerson Commander
Emerson Persian

Spyderco C-83 Persian
Spyderco Lil Temperance
Spyderco Caly3
Spyderco Native

My Brian Goode Companion fixed blade has the most comfortable handle of any of my knives including my Ritter Mini Grip.

I'm not a huge CRKT fan (other than my S-2), but the Hammond Cruiser has one of the most comfortable handles I've ever seen. The ergonomics on that knife are excellent, even if the bladesteel isn't. My Entrek Scout is also very, very comfortable to use.

One of THE most comfy knives that I have, is my Hinderer XM-18! It is a solid knife, and the G-10 gives a nice grippy feel.
