Looks great! Really like the ironwood. I'm just about finished with my first fillet knife. Waiting for quenching oil from Darrren(mine of course was the only order damaged during shipping). I never dreamed what a friggin PITA it is to grind a fillet knife!!! Is there anything harder to grind?
Nice job!

ive done some tring grinds before (the bottle and box openers have a somewhat complex grind to them)but filet knives and parers suck
are you using a backing board when grindign them? that can help keep them from flexing

Great looking knife Butch: And I love the handles with the ironwood. That set's it off. A+ job in my book, thanks for posting it to see. -------------------

Nice work indeed, the iron wood almost looks like tortoise, beautiful.
Though I personally prefer a slender handle to a fillet knife, because it makes them feel surgical, I do like that sub-hilt--esque recess, looks like it could be quite precise in the hand.

Damned shame (..I assume..) your customer didn't want a sheath..

Thanks BB, I'll try the backer next time I make one, or just re-read this thread, remember what a PITA fillet knives are, and make a skinner!:D

i dont work in leather sheaths yet and somethign tells me that it just wouldnt look right in kydex :)
he is having a leather worker make a 2 knife sheath for the set i ll se if i can get pictures of it when its done
