I was just over in the "General" section here, and the subject of brand loyalty came up. I got an idea for a reply, and went to "Britishblade" forums to see if a significant number of them mentioned the same brands we do here.
Then, on a whim, I checked out the "Wilderness" section there and discovered they have some issues that might come over here, like thier government wants dinghys and canoes to be classified as "Ships", subject to the same fees, regulation and liabilities.
Also, there is a lot of good information on that site as well. Which is actually the point I wanted to make. Our British Blade bothers have a lot to offer us, some clever alternatives and good ideas are waiting for us to try over here!
 
Ha, and I do the opposite. As an Englishman it is interesting to me that when I do a quick sweep of the foreign boards how much stuff comes up that is equally applicable.
 
I post over on BCUK and just signed up for a bushcraft forum in Portugal. For me it will be good to have something to force me to write in Portuguese. It is true that there is a great deal of applicable skills but also novel approaches to common problems.

There is bound to be brand loyalty when it comes to knives as not every place has the same brands for sale. I have also noticed "military surplus nationalism". The Brits might have a great canteen in the Crusader but the US lays claim to the poncho liner, the single most coveted item in our inventory. Mac

I am a member of a couple of UK based forums, I learn a lot from the guys there.
