I just got a bottle of this-
ardbeg-supernova-1.jpg

Color me happy. Single malt, baby. Peat, like a fist out of the bottle. Oh, happy days. Any other Ardbeg fans here?

Been a while since I've enjoyed some Ardbeq, but generally love the Islay Malts. I read a description once that they were "like licking the inside of a chimney" :D

Lang may your lum reek.

I just picked up my first bottle of Ardbeg 2 weeks ago at Heathrow. Have not opened it yet. Still working on my bottle of Laphroaig quarter cask.

Which Ardbeg did you get? I can't recommend the Uigeadail enough. Decent price point for what you get. I am not a big fan of Laphroaig. It will do in a pinch but Ardbeg has it all over Laphroiag. IMHO, of course, good sir.;)

I've never had Ardbeg, but I did just lick my computer's flat screen a couple of times. . . Does that count?

Enjoy and report back!!!!

You're on a mission man. . . Don't just sit there. . . Start drinkin' ! ! ! !

I am half thinking that I could do a tour of the Malt Distillery's in Scotland and get a little "Infi" fix if I source some of the cool smaller ones that don't export...mainly because it all gets bought locally...they tend to be the "best of the best" IMHO as they give good value and have some very unique blends...the local pubs sometimes have a bottle behind the bar...otherwise I would'nt have found some of them... I went to Wigtown in Dumfreshire near Stranrar and found one of these small distilleries when on a deer stalking trip....

Another souvenir from that trip was a bottle of this...not the local stuff...they were sold out...but found this at the hotel and offered them a good bit of fresh venison for the bottle...:D

Hard to find the really old stuff .... but it is VERY nice...

I like the Laphroaig quarter cask, it is more smokey that the normal Laphroaig.

I did get the Uigedail. Hopefully it is as good as you say. :-)

I also picked up a bottle of Caol Ila distiller's edition.

I have been back and forth to Europe quite a bit this year, so have a few bottle I need to open :-) But I'm working my way through them.

Jerry - If you make the trip to the PA trunk show I will make sure to bring a couple bottles of the good stuff by... :-)

Ok I am a big fan of the Ardbeg 10 year old but have neither seen nor heard of the Supernova or Uigeadail versions. What is the difference in taste? Thanks!

The Uigeadail has wonderful vanilla nose when you first open the bottle. It is glorious to behold. It wonders off into nutmeg, clove and of course the familiar peat and brine tastes that are distinctly Ardbeg. Wow, that sounded really snobbish. But I don't care. The ten year is my house scotch. I treat myself to the Uigeadail occasionally. The Super Nova is a real treat, or it promises to be. I will be taking it up to the north coast here in Kalifornia to enjoy with some buddies while we are Abalone diving for a few days. I will report back when I return from said trip. I promise that a Busse, or a Swamp Rat at the least, will be on my hip while enjoying the Ardbeg.

That sounds like some really good scotch! Thanks for the info, I'll have to see if any of the stores around here carry it. Have a good time on your trip!
