The P2 is indeed a great knife

I'm old and sometimes reluctant to change but wise enough to realize when something is good. I've always treasured my CPMD2 Para and later a digicam Para. When the P2s came out I thought why? I resisted for a good while especially through all the waiting and back orders. I had a chance to trade for one when they were still hard to get so I went for it. I kept it one week and sold it because people were begging for them and while it was a good knife I have had enough black knives to last forever and was eying some color. I used that money to buy a new P1 digicam/satin but then decided I really wanted a black blade so the opportunity arose to trade for the same knife with a black blade. That knife had excessive vertical play so I sent it to Spyderco and they could not fix it. They offered me a digicam/black P2 as a replacement. I was a tad bummed because the P1s are discontinued but after after receiving the P2 I have come to appreciate the subtle changes and it hasn't left my pocket since. Perfect lock-up, smooth opening and closing, great blade retention and ergos. I still like the original clip better and always carry tip down but otherwise it is indeed an improved knife. Wish I had this baby while I was still in the Corps. One Sierra Hotel knife!

great little story.

nice pic too. i have heard nothing but good things about these, i think i will try to snag one up.

i don't have any connection to spydie but the p2 is the perfect edc knife. (i also don't believe knives are meant to be prybars so i truly like a ffg)

I agree. I have three of them now and they are taking all the pocket time from my other folders. The P2 is a awesome knife.

I must admit, the Para 2 is the first folder I've bought that has made me re-evaluate what I truly want in a pocket knife. I wasn't mad for it to begin with, but I can now say it is one of the finest folders I've ever owned. The only time it isn't with me is when my pockets are too shallow for it. It is simply amazing.

Although at first I also thought that the changes were minor and that there was no justification to "upgrade," I quickly reconsidered and changed all my Paras with Para2's (except for the D-2 Para). Much more comfortable in the pocket, and the new blade shape is nicer, too. I'm now waiting for a Para 2 in D-2...

I have a the satin version and a gray sprint on the way. What a great knife.
