Hello everyone,
I have been away for a few years, and have been catching up for the past few weeks.
Anyhow, I found a new item that Im considering and I am hoping that someone here has some personal experience with this rifle. If not Im interested in your opinions. Please visit the link below.

Interesting design.

What to you is the main purpose of an item like this?

Sheer size and pack ability?
Caliber choice?
or just cool factor? :D

I ask as I have never had the need for a design like that, why not just a 10/22? or similar size.

Not being a jerk, just honestly wondering the purpose behind design.

Just the cool factor. Its not going to be anything more than another toy. Im a gear whore, but I like good stuff that works, and thats why Im asking if anyone has experience with one. I have pleanty of other rifles like it, but none of them have a fishing pole in the stock

cool, fair enough. I've own an older model, forget what it was called, had a .22 and a .410, had a survival kit in the stock, was a neat little rifle.

and just for the record, the sr22 is fun as hell to shoot. and cool looking.

Not crazy about the looks. I like the AR 7, been shooting one (1970's???- it belonged to my father) recently its pretty accurate with the iron sights and it packs down SMALL. Solid design:thumbup:

Looks decent, kind of high price wise. I got a marlin papoose love the thing, if you can find one i would suggest that instead. IMO the 10/22 is still the best 22 rifle, and you can customize it pretty much any way you want.

I would much prefer a marlin papoose, it has a hollow butt stock to fill with gear too. That thing just looks gimmicky and fragile, laser pointer?
I am skeptical, but if the thing worked and was robust it may be worth looking at.

I'd go with a CZ scout. Very small and very very accurate little rifle with a 5 or 10 round capacity, depending on what magazine you were using. And CZ's are known for their accuracy.

Carl.

JackKnife's CZ suggestion is a good one. I've handled 4-5 different CZ's, all with exhibition grade walnut stocks, all sub-MOA out of the box, and all with excellent ergonomics. Their machining is great on the actions as well-very silky smooth.

I have a CZ scout on the way to me. :)
I have a CZ 452 American with 2 mags so I will keep one and sell the other off with the American.
I like the packability and the fact it has iron sights, though apparently they are not the best sites around.
I hear it can keep up with any other CZ as far as accuracy goes, if you can handle the short LOP.

+1 for CZ. I would be interested in seeing some accuracy stats for that pack rifle. Remember the lighter the platform, the more subjective it is by the physical influence of the shooter (i.e. breathing, cold chills, etc). The CZ Scout is a great little 22LR. I also pack out a CZ 452 FS w/ a 4x scope for small game. It carries well and feels a lot lighter than the specs would suggest. For larger varmints and white-tail in heavy woods (-100 yrds), I pack a CZ 527 Carbine (7.62) with a 2.5x scope. Mine weighs right at 6.4 lbs w/ scope and fully loaded.

If I am going to be packing a 22 any distance, I'll get one of the Ruger 22LR revolvers, first choice probably being a Single Six. Accurate, dependable, and I like them a lot better than about any survival rifle I've ever seen. A bit on the heavy side, but not too bad really.

Pretty easy to cobble up a pack rifle using a Stevens 15 series .22 bolt action. Single shot, no magazine to lose. Makes up into a very similar rifle to the one used in The Day of the Jackal. There's one posted somewhere in this forum IIRC.
