It's been a while since I posted a real review on here. Honestly it's been a while since I have been this FLOORED by a knife.

First a preface: EKI has THE best customer service in the biz. 99.9% of the time I order my knives direct!
And I know what you're saying: David! You can get them cheaper elsewhere!
SO?
Everytime I call in I am greeted by friends and treated like family!
Usually I am asked how my wife and girls are doing... Stuff like this creates DEDICATED customers..

Oh yeh.... The knife...

Well by now you would have thought I have learned my lesson. Every now and then when a new Emerson model comes out I will find myself questioning it. I remember saying one time that I just flat out didn't like the CQC10. That is. Until I held it! Now it's a favorite! Why I questioned this one, I'll never know...

So... The Patriot.....

I am fully convinced that Ernie has a magic power and absolutely understands how a knife must interface with the human hand better than any other maker out there! The Patriot is his most recent testament to that! The whole "Emerson ergonomics" is not just a marketing slogan. It's scientific fact!

When I was ordering this knife I got to the "comments" box and just oh so casually typed in "may I have satin hardware please?" Half way expecting it to get looked over. Honestly I had forgotten I typed that until I opened the box! They gave me satin EVERYTHING! Even the stand offs!!
I have become a total convert to the standoffs! They add an air of quality about the knives on top of being super functional!
The lockup is THE BEST I have ever seen on an out of the box Emerson. And it appears that gone are the thinner nonlocking liners! Both liners are equally thick!
Even though the blade centering and lockup were perfect I still removed the blade and added a little grease.
As I do with all my Emerson's , I added my typical type of lanyard but I was feeling a since of PATRIOTism so went with some RED WHITE AND BLUE paracord. I actually like it!
Of course I added one of my 45 thumb disks, I went with Winchester since it's an old American company...
I'm thinking I might engrave a flag on the clip...
Besides that this knife is probably as close to being "perfect" as any of the designs!
As always Ernie slammed one out of the park!

Absolutely beautiful! Congrats on your new knife. I am so jealous...I need one too... I am super glad that you had a great experience ordering and purchasing this beauty. That knife must look even better in person I'm guessing.

Great review. Yours looks great w the satin hardware. I might have to change mine over to satin too.

Awesome review! I really like mine! They look awesome in person with the stonewash finish and silver hardware. My guess is that they buy the hardware in silver then coat them black so there is plenty of silver hardware around. I also haven't been able to source similar hardware in the black finish which leads me to believe so. Flag on the clip would be cool!

I love the Patriot too, I have three of them (two all satin and the wood handle model).

Since I have three Commanders I wasn't sure if I would use/carry the Patriot at all, but I have found I prefer the Patriot over the Commander in every way possible (which is hard for me to believe).

One of my Patriots is out to NATH being pimped which I would never have done if it wasn't one of my favorite knives to begin with.

EDIT: the one & only thing I would change if I could would be to change it to a back spacer instead of the stand-offs.

Very nice! Great addition. And I agree; EKI is awesome.... I need to make another road trip down the freeway to visit them!

My EDC lately:

Absolutely LOVE it, one of my all time favorite knives. When I get one of the other Patriots back from Nathawut, that will probably become my new EDC :-)

I've come to find that the models with the protruding curved bottom-side grips aren't for me. I doubt that I'll keep this Patriot long term, unless I go for a custom framelock setup more to my liking.

Really??

I absolutely LOVE the Patriots grip, it is almost the same as the CQC-11 which I love:

Yeah I know. If my 11 wasn't my very first Emerson and only Krein Regrind blade, I probably would have sold it a long time ago for the same reason. I do find the Patriot's "bulge" to be more pronounced than the 11's.

Their pretty close but the slightest change can make a world of difference/feel. Both feel great to me.
