It's been a while since I posted a real review on here. Honestly it's been a while since I have been this FLOORED by a knife.
First a preface: EKI has THE best customer service in the biz. 99.9% of the time I order my knives direct!
And I know what you're saying: David! You can get them cheaper elsewhere!
SO?
Everytime I call in I am greeted by friends and treated like family!
Usually I am asked how my wife and girls are doing... Stuff like this creates DEDICATED customers..
Oh yeh.... The knife...
Well by now you would have thought I have learned my lesson. Every now and then when a new Emerson model comes out I will find myself questioning it. I remember saying one time that I just flat out didn't like the CQC10. That is. Until I held it! Now it's a favorite! Why I questioned this one, I'll never know...
So... The Patriot.....
I am fully convinced that Ernie has a magic power and absolutely understands how a knife must interface with the human hand better than any other maker out there! The Patriot is his most recent testament to that! The whole "Emerson ergonomics" is not just a marketing slogan. It's scientific fact!
When I was ordering this knife I got to the "comments" box and just oh so casually typed in "may I have satin hardware please?" Half way expecting it to get looked over. Honestly I had forgotten I typed that until I opened the box! They gave me satin EVERYTHING! Even the stand offs!!
I have become a total convert to the standoffs! They add an air of quality about the knives on top of being super functional!
The lockup is THE BEST I have ever seen on an out of the box Emerson. And it appears that gone are the thinner nonlocking liners! Both liners are equally thick!
Even though the blade centering and lockup were perfect I still removed the blade and added a little grease.
As I do with all my Emerson's , I added my typical type of lanyard but I was feeling a since of PATRIOTism so went with some RED WHITE AND BLUE paracord. I actually like it!
Of course I added one of my 45 thumb disks, I went with Winchester since it's an old American company...
I'm thinking I might engrave a flag on the clip...
Besides that this knife is probably as close to being "perfect" as any of the designs!
As always Ernie slammed one out of the park!
