I don't think so...after all it is the victor that gets to write history. However a good pen is a joy to both look at and use and I just wanted to show off my newest writing instrument. It is an Arbutus with braided stainless steel weave with a medium German Iridium Point. It starts and writes as smooth as it looks and feel great in the hand. The blade is a Chen Damascus with Musashi Double Ring Tsuba.

Let's see your favorite pen/blade combos.....

I have several Waterman fountain pens of varying quality. Nothing especially fancy, but nicer than an ordinary disposable pen by far. When you have a job that requires a fair amount of writing, you may as well make it pleasurable and aesthetic.

When I was looking for a new pen I wanted something distinctly masculine and when I saw this it put me in mind of the steel braided lines in my Mini CooperS and I knew this was the look I wanted. I don't write often these days but when you do use one in front of folks they tend to grant you a bit more respect than they would otherwise. The feel is completely different from a ball point and each pen stroke feels more permanent. If you haven't tried a fountain pen you owe to yourself to give one a trial...

If you like that pen, you'd probably like the Porsche Design pens made by Faber Castell. They have very good nibs and feeds also. For that matter, Faber Castell pens (the upper end ones) are fantastic, and have some of the best nibs and feeds on the market. Very masculine design, good construction= awesome.

FWIW, many of the Faber Castell nibs have a certain dullness to them that makes them feel a little bit like a good old pencil. The nib has a give like any other gold nib, but the give isn't very pronounced, so it doesn't have the tendency to feel feminine like many other nibs. Try one sometime.

I have a Waterman pen, very nice. I knew I was going to have to do a lot of writing for my Humanities exam, so I used it.
When I asked my teacher if she could read it, she replied "Barely"
Still got a 93- A-
