What would be your perfect custom balisong? What features would it have, and how do you see them implimented?

Would it be a good thing to do something whacky like using bearings on the pivot pins? (I think some folders have them, seems like they would work there)

What about size... small ones are a bit tougher to use, what about a (slightly) outsized one, with say Ti handles, a nice real blade and possibly with an exotic wood or bone inlay?

What about the latch.. most are flat, key shaped things... how about a rounded one with a corresponding notch, sooms like it might work too.

Just some thoughts to get the process flowing.

Something with strong resiliant handles (Ti), a strong heat treated tang pin, and a good utilitarian blade profile.

4" scimitar blade, ss skeletonized handles with polished pins, manila style latch.

OR

5" fully serrated kris blade, ss skeletonized handles with polished pins, batangas style latch.

Forged/machined titanium grips, an insert into the grip for the tang pin so it doesn't "mush out", machine roll pins to secure the blade, a latch that won't fold foward and bang into the blade edge, WeeHawk blade in something appropriately exotic. (I'm not up to speed on blade alloys.)

www.knifemart.com has one as a prototype. should be ready for market in a couple months. They're about $150.00

I'm having my dream bali custom made... its been 6 months and I should have it soon! Check it out:

Latchless, high polish, stainless steel handles with mother of pearl inserts and hidden pins.

ATS-34 stainless steel, hollow ground, high polished, 4.5" tradition bowie blade with a sharpened swedge and custom filework.

I'll post pics when I get it! I just ordered a Fuji FinePix 1300 digicam last night.

Hmm.. good question. I'd have to have two answers. One for a user bali, and one for a bali that I'd just stare, and clean four times a day.

User bali:
I'd be looking for a 4-1/2 inch fully serrated bowie with Ti handles -> no inserts.

Stare-at bali:
5inch Ladder damascus Bowie hand ground by Jody Samson with filework only on the lower spine of the blade. As for the handles, raindrop damascus with mother of pearl inserts. Not gonna happen, but hey, I can dream.

I'm not sure about the perfect balisong, but to me this is the perfect set.

I want to see how those 11" balisongs flip!!! I love that 3rd bowie though, it's a beauty.

I like the set (especially the middle one).
Hmm...I'd have to say that an old Parker 11" Custom style made with titanium handles & pins would be my perfect balisong. But,I'd have to have a pair of them...one for each forepaw
