The perfect gadget gift?

I love giving useful gifts to people. Seems like everyone I know has gotten a Photon light or LM Micra from me at one time or another. I have also given alot of knives as gifts, but nothing I have found beats the pure utility of the P2 or the Micra.

Anybody else give "handy gadgets" as gifts more often than not?

Any suggestions for what I should get for all my friends and family that already have photons and micras?

Fisher Bullet Space Pens are always a winner. I also like to give the Victorinox Money Clip Knife, very handy.

I've given Photons and Utility Keys in the past. I'm considering PAL lights for this Christmas season.

Uncle Bill's Sliver Gripper tweezers. They are incredible tweezers, plus you can carry them on your keychain. I don't complain so much about the SAK tweezers (and the crappy Micra pair) since I found these. Great for splinters (especially steel wool) and stingers. Mine have saved the day for me and many other people since I got them. Most the people I know that would appreciate them got them as gifts from me. Not a real high tech item, but really useful. I got my first pair from REI in Madison, WI, but all the others came from Campmor.

Fisher space pens are good. The Rotring multi function pens are really cool, and definitely qualify as a gadget.

Underwater Kinetics 2AAA makes a nice gift also. Most folks are really amazed that such a little light is so bright. Expect to hear some possible whining when they have to replace the bulb though.

Them:"What's that clipped to your pocket, a beeper?"
Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."

Photon lights are excellent, though I haven't given too many away. My friends have jsut started to appreciate them. Usually, I spend more and get them a Spyderco or a SAK. I've given Rotring pens too, but they're kinda pricy. I guess I find the value of a Spyderco to be higher than a multipen, even a really nice multipen (I've got 2!). The Serbertools are neato too, but that's just my personal preference over the Swiss Tech. The M2 and M3 are nice, but I gave away the M4 that I had bought myself because I couldn't unlock the tools without tearing up my fingernails once they were deployed. Too bad; all the little gadgets on the M4 would have supplemented my Manager SAK well. If I thought someone would appreciate it, I would give them a Sure-Fire or an ASP baton.

Is it true that you're not supposed to give knives as gifts for certain occasions? I like to give a good kitchen knife sometimes, even though it probably never gets sharpened unless I bring over my sharpmaker. I'm always amazed by how many people put up with dull kitchen knives.

Gave every one in the immediate family and a few close friends Xoor polarized sun glasses two x-mas ago. Working for Polaroid I got a great deal at the time (they were just being released) Unfortunatly, now everyone wants another pair and I can't get the discounts any more...

Paul -- thannks for the tip on the tweezers. Will have to check those out. I think my fiance would love them.

I think Fisher Pens may be the ticket for this year's gifts, since just about everyone has a photon and a micra.
