First a hello to introduce myself.
I'm into knives obviously or I wouldn't be here and I'm a collector and user.

What is the perfect knife?
Obviously there is no one answer. It depends on your lifestyle, your personal preferences and what you use it for.
And even then it is hard to name just one. Sometimes I think it's the one I'm about to buy.

At the moment I am torn between: My Emerson La Griffe - it just feels so right in the hand and fills so many requirements;
A Spyderco cricket in steel with a dark grey, functional finish. I have three crickets but this one's the favourite, in part because It's small, so likely to be available in my pocket when I need it, it's relatively big knife performance, it's functional, no nonsence looks and in part because of the loud snap it locks with - the other crickets I own lack the sound effects, the only other knife I own that makes a similar noise is an Italian automatic of unknown make.
The last is a Ken Warner "Big Country" Hookr. A great outdoor knife that seems to be always sharp and ready to cut and chop anything.

The knife I use the most: the Leatherman micra on my keyring.

What's everyone else's idea of the perfect knife from their drawer.

First off welcome. Secondly, I'm torn between the regular small Sebbie and the Mnandi. CRK really knows how to make a "production" knife with superior ergonomics, fit/finish, materials and just plain good looks.

I will say this. There is no perfect knife. We all have opinions and those opinions change over time. We'll own the perfect knife, and then something better comes along. That's always the way it is. So get yourself a few excellent knives and you'll be happy.

My Al Mar SERE 2000 is almost perfect!...(If it had a full 4 inch blade, it WOULD BE perfect.).

I just recently acquired what may be my perfect knife. It was custom-made based on some of my own ideas. Thought you might appreciate it, since you like the La Griffe. :)

My "perfect" knives for EDC are the CRK small Sebenzas and the Victorinox Settler.
My "perfect" hunter is the Schrade Sharpfinger.
My "perfect" dress knives are the CRK Umfaan and Victorinox Secretary.

Somehow I get the feeling that the William Henry Westcliff and Spryte might find their way into the EDC and dress line up as well. They kinda have that "perfect" look to them.:D

I believe perfection is in the pursuit.

Ahh the complexity of sustainable intrigue.

One time I thought I had obtained the perfect knife - an all black spearpoint SnG .. then I found a teensy weensy amound of ...
BLADEPLAY!!!!!!! why? why? why!!! Well ..these days I feel fairly content with a couple of my spydies.

I love my Benchmade 943. Benchmade quality, no blade play, good materials, very smooth and quick to open and it has an AXIS lock.

For production knives I'd have to say my perfect folder is the Sebenza.

My ultimate fixed blade would be the Green Beret knife.

Both are by Chris Reeve Knives...:D

For my simple everyday urban life, my two knife EDC combination for over 40 years, a SAK and a stockman seems perfect

Right now, until I tear it up, the M10 bayonet from Ontario.
If I could get it done, the fallkniven MC1 with M16 bayonet fixtures. mmmm a trend;)

For me the best "production" folder is the large Sebenza. Close behind it (almost equal to it, but still too new to tell) is the Spyderco ATR.

Factory EDC is the Spyderco Military, I thought the CPM440V was good, but the S30V is great! My Tom Mayo large flatscale TNT gets a lot of pocket time too.

perfect knife?

i don't have it, but it would be...

[DRUMROLL]....a lone wolf - harsey folder

IN LEFT HANDED GOTDAMMIT!!!

:D

The Perfect Knife means a lot of different things to different folks. In the past 6 months I have pared my knives down to the bare minimum, and I mean the BARE MINIMUM!! I currently own one fixed blade and three folders! All of these are the perfect knives for me and after much careful thought and consideration decided I don't really need anything else as these 4 knives fullfill my needs.

Fixed blade- Camillus CQB3.
Folders (large)- JWS large Evolution framelock.
Cuda MAXX clip point w/CCK deep
carry clip.
Folder (small)- Case Sowbelly.

The Sow Belly probably gets the most use of all of them!:D  :D

There's no such thing as a perfect knife in my opinion, no knife can do it all.

I do have favorites though and they're mostly stockman pattern slipjoints (I think I have 6 that I cycle through for EDC) but this Kershaw Double Cross looks like the knife for me. Thumbstud opening and locking blades with that slipjoint look in a small easy to carry package. We'll see how much I like it after I pick one up.

My Spyderco FRN Native and Randall-16 together have always been able to handle anything I asked of 'em...THEY are my idea of THE perfect knife.
