I contemplated a custom sak from a few different sources but didnt much like the prices....I was expecting to pay a premium but wasnt prepared for the shock.

I need a blade, scissors, straight and phillips screwdriver and a bottle opener. Nothing more....nothing less. I dont want a dozen tools.....just those.

Seemed I was destined to either drop $220 for a custom knife or get a bigger SAK with unused tools (not what I was looking forward to).

I searched high and low.....nothing like I wanted.

Finally lucked out and came across this from SwissBianco.

The Rambler....

ALMOST perfect....close enough Im running with it. Yeah its a little guy at 58mm and Id have really liked a larger SAK - but thats its only real short fall.

I wanted 5 functions.....its got all 5 in 4 tools.

Im kinda excited to get it.....seems like the perfect little setup.

Price was $50 if anyone is curious.

Now Im kinda thinking a SAK Alox Solo would go good in my collection as well.

The Rambler packs so much utility into such a small tool. I carry either a cellidor Rambler or a Leatherman Micra daily (prefer the Rambler).

I had an Alox version, but missed the toothpick and tweezers. It was thinner than the cellidor model, but found that I preferred the extra thickness of the cellidor, so the Alox got sold to a good home.

Combine the Rambler with something like a Cadet or a heavy duty Pioneer and you're set.

I also bought a Rambler and later a SB Yeoman because like you i wanted a larger knife, it has now become my favourite SAK.

Are these readily available or were they just a special run?

I have over a dozen SAK models. All have their place but the Evogrip S18 and Explorer models are the EDC favorites. One or the other goes w/ me every day. I also have dozens of SD Classics (I buy 'em used) and attach 'em (using small lanyard clips) to nearly every jacket/pack/tool bag/what-have-you that I own.

I've never wanted, needed, or understood scissors in a multi or SAK. And I likely never will. Rock it if it works for you though bud. :)

The scissors are one of the main reasons for carrying one, or at least I find them using them the most.

There's so many things they can take care of that the pen blade or a traditional pocket knife can't take care of.

And that reminds me..... I need to order a new set of tookpicks.....

Where do you order them from?

So far I can only find them on eBay. Tim at FelineVet used to sell them, but he doesn't have any in stock right now.
