Well, this is my perfect trio. Benchmade Rant, Benchmade 710 D2 and Benchmade 707 Sequel. This is all you really need. A strong fixed blade for really hard work, a sturdy and strong folder and a small elegant folder for normal edc-tasks. Whats your´s best trios?
PICTURE HERE!

I like the premise of your trio - one stout, unobtrusive fixed blade, one reliable folder and one elegant folder. I'd tweak the particulars (like carrying a nice slipjoint, or perhaps an SAK, for the classy knife) but I think you've got a great system going.
I don't have pics at the moment, but my best trio would be a smallish fixed blade with, say, a 3.5" blade and 4.25" handle with Micarta scales; a Benchmade Griptilian; and a Swiss Army Knife Cadet.

This is my trio:
Strong fixed Blade: ESEE Izula
Sturdy strong folder: CRK Small Sebenza
Small elegant folder: CRK Mnandi

My Strong trio:
Scrapyard Dumpster Mutt as Fixed Blade
Zero Tolerance 0500 MUDD as Strong Folder
Soyderco Caly 3 as Elegant EDC

Where's your zombie killing chopper? :D

I have more "categories" than you. :o

Nice knives though. Is that the D2 Rant?

No it´s the 440C. I bought it before they completely disapear from the market. I want my outdoor-beater to be easy to sharpen. My 710 is D2 and I have to spend MUCH more time with my Spyderco Sharpmaker to get it really sharp.

Nice trio Slowstarter.

I'm a fan of the trio system my in town is:

Busse AD, for all my heavy work and most the light stuff too.

Buck Lancer, small and unoffensive good in public places.

SAK Vic Field Master, good for a variety of task.

I'd also tweak the trio a bit to include a SAK or multi-tool. The file and saw on a leatherman or SAK can be incredibly useful in the woods. Or, barring that, replacing the multi-tool with a folding saw would be a good move too.

I'm also assuming this is for a trip into the woods, and all three are being carried at the same time - I don't see much use for a big fixed blade in my day to day life :p

I'd probably go with a large chopper, smaller fixed blade, and the multitool. The only reason to carry a folder, IMHO, is compactness and ease of carry in an EDC situation. In the woods, I'd rather have the generally better handle ergos and toughness of a fixed blade.

The idea of a "perfect" combo changes nearly weekly, and usually includes whatever I purchased most recently :D

So I guess at the moment, it would be a Busse bushwacker mistress, Spyderco bushcraft UK, and leatherman wave. I broke the screwdriver on the wave but the saw is still pretty awesome.

75% of the time, these are the top three:

Lg Seb
Case Mini-Copperhead
Leatherman Micra - Keychain

Hunting/Fishing/Camping?

RC-6
Unmnumzaan
SOG Powerassist.

Aha! I was assuming this listing is for in-town trios. I do believe in carrying three tools, whether in a rural or urban setting; I simply change them out to better suit my locale.

In-town, I currently carry a medium-sized folder - BM Griptilian D2, Ontario RAT folder, or Kershaw Lahar - and an SAK Cadet. After (finally!) finishing my bachelor's this semester, I'll make a decent fixed blade for in-town use to round out my city trio.

In the wilderness, I carry a Greco Explorer (9.5" blade, full-tang, carbon steel), a Leatherman Supertool 200, and one of the folders, generally the Ontario RAT. The combo is heavy-ish, but it provides a balanced selection of tools.
