first glance thought might be a fun toy to flip but no safe handle side from what I can see. serrated on both sides so flipping isnt really an option. as a plastic weapon kinda clumsy to open fast without a safe handle side. least from the way I flip open most often. not really sure the point of it is? looks mean so thats neat but that's all I'm seeing. what am I missin'? thanks

I've got one. If it's open, you can stab with it. If you're not stabbing with it, it flips open and shut. No sarcasm intended.

Well it sure beats this...
And going by cold steels product history, sifu lynn has first and foremost proven himself to be a very keen close contact edge weapons developer ;-)
Hear him out... think there is hope yet for those who are strictly into just flipping acts.

It's a weapon . The serrations allow some slashing capacity . More like ripping and tearing than nice clean slicing , but better than just stabbing alone .

Not high on my list of best weapons , but beats fingernails and teeth ! ;)

that answers that. thanks for the video. appreciated.

Johnny and the meat jacket and meat shoe...hard not to smile on the phrases used to market, but......point made.

also thanks to rest for answering and putting their take on it. also appreciated.

looking forward to flipper ones coming down the pipe.

One can almost be sure that Johnny wasn't tickled to the ribs. And putting his foot down certainly didn't help the outcome. :-)
Sifu lynn have certainly made plastic the way forward towards efficiently manufactured chaos.
Gotta love this devious plaything ;-)

FGX is very good for those clubs, etc. that might "wand" you before allowing entry. I they are checking for weapons it just might mean it is a good place to have one cladestinely. Just thowing that thought out.

I take it this model would still be considered a "butterfly knife" even though its plastic. In some areas its almost as bad as carrying a suitcase nuke, it would be nice if it wasn't considered one because its plastic.

I would assume but dont know what the case laws in various states would say? I'd also assume if carrying a bali was illegal to carry and/or own then assume this one would be illegal to carry and /or own as well, but I'm no lawyer and laws arent always so common sense or cut and dry.

In weapons sensitive areas I usually wear a heavy brass belt buckle on a sturdy leather belt and steel toe lumber jack style boots and even a Sharkie marking pen from Cold Steel in case I have to take names and numbers!!! :D

Plastic weapons are automatically upgraded in consequences because they are deemed to be weapons of ambush or concealment and are not generally accepted as having a utility purpose due to their inferiority to a comparable metal tool. In short, it's a weapon, only a weapon (though we know it's a great toy, too), and it's design lets it through a metal detector or pass by a wand unseen. Get caught with one, and it's doom.

exactly right. basically what cold steel did is make a high tech Grivory shank :D

I think I will still buy one. just curious about it. same with their 1911 pistol grips, for some reason cold steel's specialty stuff has been really interesting to me as of late. blowguns and shurikens. maybe it is because it is uniquely cold steel. all the other companies are a little too pc to try stuff like that ;)

Yeah, the specialty stuff has always been drawing me in. I still kick myself for not trying to pick up one of their Masai lion-killing spears in the 90s. It was a lot of money, but I could have swung it with some fiscal management. I have a growing pile of the polypro specialty items, every good saleseems to land one on my doorstep. And the plastic bali is interesting and low price, I can see picking one up on a whim on a free shipping weekend.
