Ok, I would like to buy the pocket meteor, how heavy is this thing, is a good weapon at the length its at. how long is it when laid out including the cord.thanks for your time-Nightwing

The P.M. is about 3 3/4 inches long, the lanyard on mine I have taken off, put back on and taken off and I have currently misplaced it. If I remember correctly, about 5 inches of Black 550 ParaCord.

James sells them, "ready to go, as is," but you can shorten or lengthen the lanyard by purchasing your own ParaCord if this does not fit your needs...in fact, I have another lanyard for it that I made from 3mm Cord that is about 5 inches long and has a Monkey's Fist Knot on the end of it. I have been using Monkey's Fists for various things for awhile now. Nice knot that has some serious application to flexible weapons and as lanyards. You can purchase 3mm Cord from:
www.actiongear.com

Otherwise known as, Brigade Quartermasters.

You can learn how to tie a Monkey's Fist Knot at various websites that are dedicated to knot tying and marlinspike.

Funny how knot tying and macrame figure into self-defense, eh? Braids and sennits are great and James uses them at times as well, such as on the Wang Bo stick with a braided lanyard.

The weight of the P.M. is in ounces, it is light and fast. You can cowhitch it to a keyring for your keys to strike with, etc., it can stand alone, but I suggest the Bandando...a Bandana with reinforced seams and a pocket. James has them as well. Then, you have a ready made load for the Bandando and it is a vicious tool for use against vicious attacks.

If you had 2 P.M.'s and a double pocket Bandando (also available), you could run one lanyard through the other to make what would appear to be a pair of long corded nunchaku that were miniscule, but in actuality is more like a manrikigusari or Kusarifundo Japanese weighted fighting chain.

I have a double pocket Bandando, and a handmade fighting chain. The weights of the chain go in both the velcro pockets, and the chain is hidden in the Bandando. Ancient weapon, modern application. Hidden in plain view...neat eh? I need to take pics of all this stuff and get a PhotoPoint account.

The best illustration for the MonkeyFist Knot that I have found is at this link:
www.realknots.com/knots/faqknot.htm#monkey

And...3mm Cord is perfect for a MonkeyFist Knot type Lanyard as it is stiff enough to work with and to hold its' shape, the 550 ParaCord is weaker in this area and I don't personally care for it.

If you take anything you need a quick-draw lanyard for and you have the lanyard measured out and ready, then tie a MonkeyFist, then measure it out and tie another MonkeyFist that when completed, will only be an inch or two apart, your preference.

The MonkeyFist closest to the device you have the lanyard hooked to, will keep the lanyard from slipping down in your waistband, the second one keeps a small length of cordage to grab onto and acts as a Bead Pull to boot. Get the picture? great things from old things...indeed.
